Interesting comment by Riccio on SharkCast:

Our entire back 5 is off contract at the end of 2023…
“We will lose a couple.”

Out of:
WK
Katoa
Ramien
Talakai
Mulitalo

Which 2 would you be prepared to lose, knowing that we have re-signed Dykes and Iro?

I would let WK & Katoa go.
Riccio seemed to be hinting Ramien, as he’s on big coin…

f**k that’s tough.

The only absolute non negotiable is Ronnie. Love that bloke.

If I had to choose it’d be Katoa and WK, but only for the purposes of this hypothetical. If WK and Katoa continue their form into next year we should fight to keep them all.

Fur-huck, can I just get through the last of 2022 and then the 12months of next year. I think that is 2023.

+1

Ronnie if he stays will become one of the all time legends of this Club.

At 22 he already has a great try to game ratio.

I think we could roll with:

1. WK
2. Iro
3. Dykes
4. Talakai
5. Mulitalo

Riccio reckons Dykes is a Jack Wighton style player.

I read a brief bio somewhere on Kade and it said he can play, fullback, 5/8 or centre. Which makes him great utility value on the bench if he doesn’t lock down a position early.

Who we keep depends on how much they want dollars wise, who is coming through the grades that might be better or who else may be on the market.

I hope the Club ties down who they really want to a new contract before November 1.

With 16 opposition Clubs now some silly money is going to get offered from desperate Clubs looking to make a splash.

Also got Connor Tracey fighting for a spot plus throw tricky in the mix in the halves and that's 11 players for 7 spots next season, 12 if you count Ikuvalu who isn't a bad player and that's a ton of depth for next season at least.

Good problem to have even though i don't like the thought of guys like Katoa or WK playing at another club in the future.

I've got a feeling you'll be right there, K.
Though Katoa might be one let go as well.

If Dykes can produce anything like his lower grades form in the NRL it would certainly put the heat on WK.
Then if the likes of Iro and Stonestreet continue to improve over the next 12 months another outside back could be moved on to accommodate them.

As much as I love Big Sexy, he's the weakest link IMHO.

I look at that backline list and I can see a few things,
I dont think any of them will want to leave but,
Some will be they type of player that will only play their best footy with us,
namely: Jesse, WK and Ronnie.
I think Katoa and Sifa will be fine at other clubs, but I gather Sifa is of high priority to Fitz right now.
If Dykes keeps improving my feeling says that he will be partnering Nicho in the halves in the long term

Whilst I want to keep Katoa and Ronnie we shouldn't be over paying or going into a bidding war for wingers. Its a sure way to fugg our cap.

I dont see many throwing over at Katoa anyway.

I defn see the Dolphins throwing money at Ronaldo and given he's said he'd like to play in QLD it's a good chance. Also he's mentioned he wants to play centre at some point too
