The Hughes haters ready to deathride him, remember that no top order batsman has done anything of note in this test.

If in the 1st innings he got out cheaply and then Warner and Khawaja put on a 200 run partnership you'd have a point. But you don't. Look how many have been caught in the slips, he's not alone.

who here hates him you goose ?

saying he needs help with his batting isn't hating him

no one wants to see him fail, we can at least admit that he needs help with his technique and hopefully he'll come back a better batsman

you're too blind to see that

We are not haters. We just have a clue unlike yourself. He is shot and regardless of his runs today I don't think we will see him at his best for a few years.

Yeah we're not Hughes haters but we all have different preferences. IMO I'd pick Warner any day. He just needs more experience at this level and the only way is to hang in there with him and give him his time. He just looks more solid mentally and is "always" a worry for the opposition! (Not like someone else i'm not going to mention) :) Plus he's a great fielder.

GAME ON!

Hughes survived 6 Martin deliveries. I'm watching the cricket with 4 mates...everyone of them had him gone in Martins first over. Looks like I win a carton.

Remember Ponting getting dropped on 0 and getting 200. Would have been dropped a year ago if it wasnt for that knock...a little bit of luck can do wonders for someone under pressure.

Hughes out on 0, not given.

Can't wait for the return of Watson and Marsh.

Langers entire opening career came off the back of luck so it can be done.

Big opportunity missed by NZ.

Oh FFS this is a joke. If a ball can be out of shape this soon then we need to get a new ball manufacturer. This is an embarassment. It's not like it's been belted out there.

It's a case of how bad things have got that I'm impressed by his forward defense. When he doesn't look right when he blocks the ball goes to cover. Today it's been going towards the bowler. And he's been more disciplined with balls outside off. And that cut it looks like he made an effort to get over the top of it.

And then...vintage Hughes. Middle of the bat. Wasn't anything but a boundary.

Hopefully it's a sign he's gotten over his nerves.

Injured himself after being omitted from the Aus. side for Starc. in the 1st test...

Who's to say that the same would not have happened if he was selected? [/sitting on the fence]

Observation: Loving the contest.

Prediction: Aus by 4 wickets. But it'll go into day 4.
