Ideally the first test team should be mostly based m on the form of the Australia A games & the warm up games.

Smith, Paine, Cummins & Lyon are the only locks I’d have.

For years Khawaja has promised a lot but hasn't been given a fair run to deliver. This season was his chance to cement his spot, instead he's been lazy and looked too comfortable with his place in the team.

He'll go to England and be as sporadic as he's ever been.

Possibly my expectations of him being a true world class bat were too high.

He's still easily in our best six bats. Simple as that.

Let’s say he doesn’t perform in the warm up games & others do, should he still be a lock for the team?

Well first I would have had to say he was a lock, which I haven't.

I don't think he's a lock yet. I think he might compete with Burns for the number 3 spot, pending form of the openers. I think (not that I agree) that they will take Harris, and I would take Renshaw given his county performances

Agree.

Just like Sam Williams is Canberra's number one half. You've just got to live with it.
It is what it is, we have a bloke averaging 33 batting at no 4. He’s been a major disappointment this summer but he’s still better than the other options sadly.

Fair enough, I just thought you implied it when you said he’s easily in our top 6 bats.

I think burns should open with Warner, Harris plays too loose for now.

He is, IMO, in our top six bats. But you do need to consider form/confidence/conditions/other players.

Shaun Marsh, for example, is undoubtedly on of the best bats in the country when it comes to FC cricket. But that doesn't mean he should be a lock for the test side.

The problem I was getting at is the selectors often don’t consider those things. They’ve made some noises that the squad will be heavily based on the Australia A tour, I really hope they stick to that.

Hohns said 3 weeks ago he’d given up on the all rounder thing, that was clearly BS.
