The record doesn't mean that much to Australian cricket. Bradman's 334 and Taylor's 334no are more revered than Hayden's bully score of 380. Winning is what has mattered more to Australia than records in the past.

What logic? We are on top, 400 runs on the board in the first hour on the second day with 7 wickets in hand. The acceleration is already on, we will be near 600 just after tea. If that's not enough, batting on into a 3rd day isn't going to help our bowlers bowl them out.

Nah, trying to take 20 wickets without giving your bowlers even half a day rest is a recipe for broken bowlers on this pitch. 550-600 runs then have a bowl and hope you can lead by 150+ (this is f**king road, even a dispirited India should give 400 a nudge here). Bat half a day and set 300 on day 5 when the pitch should be low and have uneven bounce. That's been a pretty successful method at Adelaide for some time. The highest successful chase was 315 back in 1902, the next highest being 236 in 82. No one has survived 90 overs in the 4th innings since 98.

exactly Peshawar makes this Adelaide pitch look like Hobart v the kiwis. Great knock for the sheer concentration, but there were a lot of runs made by both sides. Famous more for the number he declared on rather than any effect it had on the result.

Yeah the uneven bounce has started, but it will still be good to bat on for day 3 and only starting to really get really tough day 4. Wouldn't want to be chasing even 200 on day 5.

Yep. Even if we roll them for less than 200 we'll bat again.

I think that even if we did have to bat again it would be a very minimal total. Despite the way they've batted in the 1st 3 tests these Indian batsmen can bat and like ponting it's just a matter of time before they strike form. You want as much time as possible to get them out.

If both teams declared their first innings at 0/0 in Peshawar the game probably still would have ended in a draw. One of the most lifeless tracks in the history of test cricket. Only 18 wickets fell in the game for over 1350 runs.

Me too, Clarke's innings was one of the best I've seen. If Taylor had scored 333 or 335 it wouldn't be as well remembered.
