Yeah...military medium plodder.

Although merkins have been saying the same about Starc now, given where he's currently sitting wickets wise. They said that about Lee. And then Johnson. And now Starc

Seems to me that people need to accept that genuinely fast bowlers, the guys who regularly push 150km, are less consistent and can be easier to attack at that pace if there's no assistance on the air especially.

To be fair Johnson bowled absolute rank filth for a while there.

I’d definitely agree on Lee.

Any aussie turning up in the scorching heat to watch this rabble get belted deserves a medal...and unlimited free Phillip Seymour Froffmans all day.

He did. I criticised the hell out of him at times too and probably said some unfair things, but he also bowled some of the best spells we'd ever seen at times. He was very inconsistent and he had a period there where his action went to complete shit. He was a very good bowler though.

Nah the biggest under performers haven't been the bowlers, or the batsmen (are they under performing or just shit - I say mostly shit and sitting ducks for Bumrah); the biggest underperformers have been the selectors.

The Handscomb and Finch selections have been shockers. The MMarsh recall was a disgrace. And now the Marnus Lolthatsashame selection is the jizz icing on the turd cake.

They should all be sacked as soon as this Test is over but they'll continue to operate beyond reproach; lurking almost namelessly in the shadows.

Agreed.

For a while there MJ’s batting was pushing him into genuine all-rounder territory, especially after that century in South Africa.

I wonder how much of his mid-career decline was psychological and/or coaching, as good as Notch was later I always feel like he felt short overall.

I don’t rate Starc as highly, but he’s a better bowler than this series suggests.

The biggest under performers have been Hick and Saker sitting behind their laptops. Clear out these dud coaches, I'm going to sound like Chappell and Warne here but there are too many coaches in the Australian set up doing f**k all. Too many pre game huddles, too much bullshit.

Johnson was a much better bowler with a moustache than without one

It’s not a one or the other issue.

We all know the batsmen are rubbish, no one is hiding from that.

It's not one or the other, but the batting is the root of the problems.

Imagine being a bowler in this side? Knowing that, on any half decent wicket, batsmen with a brain will just be patient and tire you out, get to even a middling score in the low 300s...then you'll have to come out and face fire after the top order fails, then after having to save the blushes of the bats, you're out there again, 135 runs behind already with the opposition not needing to take a single risk to stay in control.

That takes its' toll and it's happening just about every test. I'd bet quite a lot that if we could somehow get this side scoring 400s, those bowling averages would come down in kind.

To be fair Hick doesn't have much to work with

Imagine if he'd been as good as he was towards the end of his career instead of having those slump years?
