Also this chat about Carey is pretty misplaced. The bloke averages 29 in Shield cricket. He wasn't going to be looked at just yet, and he's nearly 28 so he's definitely not much more of a long term option than Paine anyway.

There was certainly an opportunity to get younger blokes in the side, but Carey wouldn't be at the top of the list. Probably not even top ten

They were raised in the Australian cricket community. They should be putting back in Shield; grade, coaching. Most of them retired straight in to tge media.

Plus there’s 3 other good keepers about. And they’re younger than Carey.

Phillipe hasn’t produced heaps with the bat yet, but from what I’ve read he has the potential. Pierson & Gotch average higher than Carey.
