Jonny Bairstow would have to be one of the worst international bats I have seen. Even when he does score runs once in a blue moon all his runs come via the edge.

Come on boys, lets win this today. A draw would be just the turd cherry on top of a pathetic series, have to win it this afternoon and take any potential rain out of the equation.

Rain predicted for tomorrow afternoon, so I would think will at least have the first session of tomorrow as well if England survive until stumps. We've just got to get past Ali - he's been the underrated unsung hero of the English side, making valuable runs at no. 8. His partnership with Broad in the Edgbaston test turned out to be crucial in the end

However, Monday appears to be a washout with the mercury dropping down to 18 degrees.

The selection of Watson and Haddin and the non selection of Siddle to me has exposed the selectors as unfit for there roles

Pretty shit series all round tbh... Australia's effort in being less consistent and more incompetent than England was rather spectacular

As they say, you know the end is nigh when you start dropping sitters, just like Healy, Gilchrist and Hayden did towards the end of their careers.

Regarding Clarke, warnings of a retirement announcement started with that dropped catch in the England run-chase at Edgbaston. I'm not saying we would've won the test had Clarke caught it, but at 2/55 chasing only 123, momentum is vital and you just never know with that little bit of pressure how differently things may have panned out had 2/55 become 3/55 in bowler-friendly conditions.

that's the beauty of test cricket, things can go in so many directions if the coulda, woulda, shoulda moments throughout a game been different

eg Root gets caught for 0 in the first test, Smith gets caught for 50 in the 2nd test etc...

Probably on par with when we smack the poms 5-0 down under

At least we haven't lost more than 3 tests in a series over there, no consolation though

Be interesting had we had a 6 tests series :sarcasm: only cause it took us 4 tests to realise how to bat over there (Lords aside)

I always enjoy the UK Ashes series, always entertaining even if the results aren't always our way.

I was living over there for the 2005 and 09 series, it wasn't fun afterwards but was great to see them talk about a sport that wasn't Football for once
