Are the 2024 Warriors better than the 2023 Warriors? Can we go all the way?

As a long suffering Warriors fan I assumed we had a bit of luck last year and this year maybe tougher. I wasn’t sure about RTS, CTH or Capewell as the additions.

I don’t remember having 2 good years in a row and we started the year without luck (Melbourne) and a bit clunky (Sharks)

But after 5 rounds I think the team can be a big step up from last year. Existing players have improved and the new additions have raised the quality such that we can genuinely challenge the top sides.

what do you think? Or have I been influenced by how bad South are going? (Just watched the replay)

I think our ceiling is higher this year. Will we attain it? Still to be seen. But the squad has improved.

probably cool the jets a little bit. Souths completion rate was atrocious. We are a good side which took advantage of that.

Pretty much revolves around Egan staying healthy. We dont have anyone capable of igniting the offence like he does, if he gets injured. Not trying to put the mocker on him but he does have a history. Maybe this year will be his best healthwise.

Our overall fitness looks capable of matching the likes of Penrith though. In a bygone era, the crazy humidity of yesterday would have sapped the team by the 60th minute.

I think we could be building nicely.

Encouragingly, we are winning despite not playing well. But something good could be forming.

But yeah- I won’t think we’re going all the way until about a week after we’ve gone all the way

Win the comp this year? Are Penrith worse in 2024 compared to 2023? They have to be, for the rest of us to have a chance.

They’re beatable when they have certain troops out as we’re seeing. It could come down to that.

Plus there's always a chance we make the GF and Penrith have suffered an upset at the hands of someone else.

What is quite certain though is that we can't be outclassed like we were last year by the two grand finalists.

That’s what I feel - ofcourse it will be hard to get to the final or even win it and you need a lot of things to go in your favour

But last year we couldn’t match it with the top 3 teams. This year I feel we will be in with a chance. Will be interesting when we play Brisbane or Penrith

Yep, I think we are one year further through the process of Webster being in charge, knowing exactly the way he wants to take us, figuring out what is going to beat the best teams etc. SJ is still hungry and physically up to it, we've added RTS, the likes of Barnett, Capewell are improving the pack, and so on.

If we stay injury free, I absolutely think we are a genuine shot. One serious injury to an 'irreplaceable' person like Egan, SJ, AFB and Tohu could be season-threatening, however

I was really optimistic at the start of the season. A foolish, foolish thing for a warriors supporter. The loss against the Sharks and the Storm comeback were disappointing. What really initially pissed me off was how bad they were against Canberra (but won). So I have tempered my optimism. The comp is all over the place ATM. Seems to be more injuries across the board. Warriors included. Not getting excited about beating Souffs. They are rabble. Our depth already being tested. Will be again next weekend. I think we will make 8, with luck on injury front, maybe 4 to 6 is my pick.

They look better, but not counting any chickens.. if everyone is at full strength, there are a few sides we'd struggle to beat, and Penrith obviously remain favourites

It's a long season. At this point last year, the Dolphins and Bulldogs were in the position that we are in now.

I love the Kiwi Humbleness lol
However let me the exception.
This is ours to lose.
Core players we need injury free: AFB, SJ, Egan, Tohu.
We keep the core players healthy throughout 2024 we win this whole thing.

Crazy talk
Boring reply.

We are currently the best team in form. Setting aside ladder rankings, it's not unreasonable when considering the statistics you typically use to justify your comments. However, as you likely know by now, I am not one to heavily rely on statistics. In terms of effort and unity on the field, we are leading the pack, making it ours to lose.

If you said "we're in with a chance", no problem.

But "it's ours to lose"? Crazy

Also, I don't really know what you're talking about re me 'using statistics to justify my comments', but I seldom understand what you're talking about anyway.
