I've tried to blank out that clip.

Pfft, rite of passage for the internet.

That said, gee there was some nasty stuff in the formative years of internet memes and everyone was bizarrely keen to troll you with it. Off the top of my head I can think of the times I got trolled by things that had names to do with goats, meat and lemons. It was a wonder I didn't pour bleach in my eyes I tells ya.

Yeah, what I was trying to get at was the deficiencies of the current focus of stats.

There is no focus on stats, they are used to prove the facts when observations disagree.

We didn't get Choc for his stats. We got him for how he'd affect the team.

At least some of the effect on the team is reflected in the individual stats.

Same with Scott. Only Scott has been far better, and therefore his effect on the team.

Scott has not been far better at all, he is just less isolated because he is playing in a better team. How good did he look playing for the wooden spooners last year? IMO he has performed no differently for us, however in our team he can focus on his strengths without having his flaws exposed.

I understand that you're arguing just for the sake of arguing, but this one's really thin Pou. Beau Scott has been a standout for us this year and has been a driving force in our change in attitude in defense, and if you don't believe that is a major contribution, you have rocks in your head, and I can't take you seriously anymore.

I agree leadership is a massive factor is a team's performance, which is why I always thought Watmough and Scott (and Foran, obviously) would be great signings.

But that doesn't mean Scott has been one of our best players. I think his attack hasn't been good enough. Most merkins bagged him last year in a shitty Knights team, and they would be bagging him this year if he was playing next to Sandow rather than Foran.

Like I said, in our current strong team he can play to his strengths - defence and leadership - which makes us and him a perfect fit for each other. But he has benefitted as much from us as we have from him.

It is, however the responsibility thereof is more equally spread across the team. Attack can be (and indeed should be) structured around a handful of key individuals.

but we should have kelly instead of cornish because you and only you think hes a better defender

Pou is right in that his attack is only average. But that's always been the case.

I would hope that BA plays him for his strengths which is defense and leadership and offload some of the attack to the others.

However, was Watmough's attack that much better? For the first half of last year, he was throwing dreadful passes and turning over the ball. Only until he stopped passing his attack in terms of metres gained improved.

However, if you compare Scott's first few rounds with Watmough's first few rounds I would say Scott is ahead. Granted, Scott is playing in a stronger team.

Watmough is also a middle forward, you would expect his stats to be better. Scott has never been a stats player and never will be. Pou would of thought Alan Tongue was that greatest forward to strap on a boot.

After 4 rounds this year and last, here are the approx average stats per game:

Scott
55 run metres per game
36 tackles per game

Watmough
79 run metres per game
32 tackles per game

Poo is arguing Scott is average in attack.

The past four years he argued sandow wasn't purchased for his defence.

Hindmarsh was the worst attacker in the NRL for a half a decade, and 99% of Parra fans still loved him.

I think a more important stat to judge a defender by is Missed tackles, as opposed to the tackles they made.

Lower missed tackle counts = better defensive players. IMO anyway.

Manu and Scott have missed 1 tackle each for the year. Manu has played 1 less game however
