I don't know what the current or future status is for Grant Mayer (acting CEO) but I think he has handled this whole situation very well and I for one would like to see him get the gig permanently. I hope the board and all interested parties have been reading these forums and can see who is getting the support.

Vote 1 Mayer for CEO.....

Good for you blokes to finally have some leadership in your club.

Onward & Upward from here.

My tip - Benji is gone within a fortnight. He'll sulk his way through the weekend & Potter will f**k him off.

Good appointment, Mick Potter. Wish Saints had landed him.

Listen Dobbs . . . Again you come on to our forum and make sense.
That's about enough mate. I think I've warned you about this before. :D

Actually, we are both in very similar turbid waters. Interesting to see how the Tigs and Drags come out of the next couple of seasons.

I'll say it again, I don't see any point in him playing another game for us.. he won't put in.

I disagree, only because he hasn't got anywhere else to go, so right now, all eyes are on benji. If he wants a Million per year, after all the noise he's made these past weeks, now is his time to show that he's worth it, otherwise he'll be unemployed next year.

If he plays like crap from now on in, no one will sign him in any code, and if they do, it'll be for peanuts.

Yes they will sign sign him regardless ! Just like issy and that that soft Hunt !! It would be a media RU coup regardless of wether he is shit Nah f**k him , he walked away from a swan song and showed no regard for building a legacy in relation to the youngers that followed behind. HE WAS f**kING SELFISH SO LET THE THE CLUB BE SELFISH AND LOOK TO THE FUTURE. Why give this this prick anymore exposure to make money elsewhere.

When you think of what he has done over the last 12 months you wonder where it all went wrong. There were times between 2003 and 2011 that if we didn't have Benji we had less than no hope. But he has turned into a self centred plodder with delusions of his own form. He sooked about Ryan going, ditto Heighington because they organised the lunches or some such, still makes the same stupid f**k ups he did when he was 19 (but at least then he usually always did something freakish to make up for it) and is carrying on like a clown.

His farewell on retirement should have been one like Junior's or Blocker's. A packed house with everyone moist in the eyes because we had seen a legend go around for the last time but his form and antics are ensuring that his last game will seem him revered like a Glenn Morrison.

Sheens let him get away with too much for too long and Benji can't turn the tap back on so rather than blaming himself he is blaming Humpty, Shines, Potter, Mayer, the new board, Julia Gillard and anyone he can.

Over the last few years he has become more and more of a flat track bully and less of a champion who could decide games on his own.

Farah made a comment that surprised me.

He's been down on form, he knows that," he said.

"Why or whether that's because Tim's (Sheens) gone or other reasons. you'd have to ask him. I'm not too sure."

"I always thought Benji would be here with me playing out his career at the Tigers, but unfortunately that is not to be."

I Think u have summed it up mate , wether it was 1, 2 or 4 years I hoped and wanted it to end that way :(
Ps . coming from you Pete I know what you are saying is from the heart and not a piss take as we have come accustomed to which makes it even more relevant .

Benji was offered a contract well in excess of his current and even future worth to the Tigers under the salary cap ($750k). He declined because he wanted a 2 year extension and $1m a year. He is now going to play in Auckland and Japan in the offseason and will make the $1m or more. NZ Rugby will pay around $350k and Japan should pay around $650k. Take it as gospel its already been organised.

This move is not about money only its about maintaining a brand as a star moving forward which, he believes he can do in Rugby. He knows he is past it in RL. smart move by Benji and his manager as they are painting the Tigers as the bad guys where, the opposite is true.

Well played by Mayer who saw through this and offered what he knew would be rejected. They want Benji gone at WT and are handling matters brilliantly. They are now making Benji and Tauber look like the bad guys.

The COO (Mayer) has just axed an under performing club legend and maintained his authority and fan base. Give Mayer a long term contract now.

Good post, very much the way I think things have been played out. Benji and his management tried to out smart the club and its really turned around the other way. Live by the sword, die by the sword

Club policy is he shouldn't be on before game day when we play Friday.

If it is anything but a pre-record drop the prick to play NSW Cup and cost him his 200th game.
