Brisbane Tigers make their bid to be 18th team

Its up there but Come on is it as bad as
'rugby union isnt popular in perth due to not many rugby league fans'?

I mean that was a pearler lol

Cost of living might prevent some people from having Kayo and a ticketed season membership. Especially in a city like Perth that has a lot of bogans. People from the east coast move to Perth because they cannot afford property in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Even Adelaide and Hobart have higher median property prices than bogan Perth.

Didn't that nutcase Canard claim that the Broncos don't need to be based on the southside to represent Logan and Ipswich?

If that's true then why would the Broncos "block" a club that's based on the southside?

I'm looking forward to seeing how you try to explain this without making yourself or Canard come across as morons.

My god this moron is actually doubling down on his "foxtel don't want a team where there is lots of viewers because then people might stop subscribing" garbage.

You said that if they have a lot of viewers, Foxtel wouldn't want them to have a team because then they might lose subscribers. You can't deny and pretend the dumb shit you wrote never happened.
I think the only way to respond to that is to keep posting non-sequitors about 15 year old boys...

median house prices now, this is a new angle to try and argue why Perth can't have an NRL team

what else can you google about Perth to use?

Saying no-one from the east coast would want to live there, but conversely it has far cheaper cost of living and housing, seems a tad contradictory too.

Yet again, I would say its arguing in favour of East Coasters moving there.

That's called a hypothetical. Google it.

I never said Perth has a lot of viewers. You've been arguing that everyone in Perth who watches RL does so via Kayo. I pointed out there's no evidence to support your claim.

It's far-fetched to think Perth has a high amount of Kayo/Foxtel customers who signed up just to watch RL. That's pretty much what you're arguing. The odds are that 80% or more of NRL fans with a Kayo/Foxtel subscription are from Queensland and NSW. Probably closer to 90%.

Didn't you say that Perth cannot have a team because a) the broadcasters are worried about Origin and b) ARU and ARLC have conspired with one another to give the Force "space"?

Out of all the reasons to argue against a Perth-based team, the two you've cooked up are by far the dumbest and craziest. If that ain't embarrassing enough, you think Perth will get a team despite arguing that the ARLC has conspired with a competitor to not put a team in Perth.

Excellent news for a Perth team then.

The provision of a team in that market can help drive streaming and STV subscriptions higher.

yeah, you keep bringing that up every time i comment on one of your dumb posts. I don't care if you or anyone here think its a "crazy" theory. There could be a number of cynical reasons why the NRL hasn't gone back to Perth since the 90s... we live in a world that can't be judged on face value.

All of your posts are dumb.

Reality and father time has done a good job of exposing the insanity of your views.

Has it ever occurred to you that you're wrong about expansion?

It's dumb no matter what you want to call it.

Nope that's actually not what happened. You claimed that Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne provide no value to broadcasters and quoted ch9 figures as proof. I pointed out that it doesn't include the broadcaster with most games or streaming, so doesn't prove anything.

As you yourself pointed out, Foxtel doesn't give a breakdown, so you know you can't argue my point, so now you've resorted to lying.

This thread should be scrapped, the 18th team is going to be announced next year, pretty sure its the PNG bid, we are just circle jerking here, should start up the 19th team thread already
There’s still a tiny chance it falls over

albo is making one mistake after another

increasing immigration is fueling further rate rises which will see many working class Aussies lose their homes

meanwhile Chinese investors are snapping up Australian property in record numbers

Ch9 figures are the only ones we have available. They aren't favourable to Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.

What you're doing is as stupid as saying Harold Halt might be alive because his body might be found. It's possible, but highly improbable.

You keep going on about Foxtel being more important than Ch9 because they provide more money and air all games, yet fail to address the elephant standing in the room:

If Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth are so important to Foxtel, why did News Ltd shut down the Reds and Rams?

News Ltd decided it was better to have zero representation in Australia's fourth and fifth largest metro markets when they acquired a 50% stake in the game. Now you're arguing Foxtel values the potential of an NRL club in all three markets, despite the fact they killed two to carve out a niche in Melbourne. It has to be emphasised that News Ltd did this when they didn't have the AwFuL broadcast rights. They probably wouldn't have bothered with a Melbourne team if they had the broadcast rights for AwFuL in 1998.

As you yourself pointed out, Foxtel doesn't give a breakdown, so you know you can't argue my point, so now you've resorted to lying.

You're using the lack of data on Foxtel's end to "prove" something that cannot be verified. That ain't an argument. It's a nonsequitur.

You could argue that we don't have any definitive way of knowing the precise value of Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth to Foxtel. We do know that News Ltd poured a lot of resources into the Storm while they had a 50% stake in the game. That would suggest they saw potential in the market. However, if we use that to argue Melbourne is a valuable market for the NRL deal, then Adelaide and Perth must be worthless because they chose to scrap them. News Ltd showed no interest in expanding to Adelaide and Perth after 2000, despite having a 50% stake in the game.

Actually that's not what I'm arguing. Why can't you respond to what I'm actually saying rather than making up things to argue against?

Do you even know what you're trying to argue?

I don't think you do.

I'd like to know what will happen if Albo is canned by Labor before a deal with the NRL is finalised.
