1969 grand final rewind: Tigers cook up a Bunnies boilover
As part of a series of fresh looks at the grand finals of yesteryear, NRL.com revisits the controversial 1969 grand final between Balmain and South Sydney.www.nrl.com

jeez pipps I’m impressed you knew that off the top of you head
this guy could be part of rugby league royalty
Ridiculing an idea isn't racism mate.
You're so sensitive you can't take any criticism of your ideas without getting sooky.
All your AI sourced data is limited to 2021. It's out of date.
A park rugby team, signing up 80 players to play touch footy is a total nothing. To try to claim that should be a model to follow for the Dragons is embarrassing shallow.
Broncos fans like you are the reason Cowboys fans like me hate the club.
Adelaide keeps getting brought up by insular anti-expansionists like @Pippen94 and @Get Rid of The Donkeys like it's the only choice for future expansion.
I never said Adelaide would became a Rugby League stronghold lol
bringing up on the spot, throwaway comments made to the media as argumentative evidence again. Politis is like 80 years old and he probably has his own personal agendas in regards to expansion. I don't give a shit what he thinks or wants.
?When you get a bit back you take the cry bully route and whinge about persecution.
How can you, with a straight face, claim Strawman , and then type this statement mere posts later?Do you want to limit the game's potential growth in Brisbane to create a small club that generates niche support in Adelaide?
There's no words to describe your stupidity and insanity.
If you think a small Adelaide club that wip never be anything but niche at best is more important than a third Brisbane club that generates two to three times ore revenue from football operations and better viewing numbers on a weekly basis then you're not very bright and need to see a psychiatrist.
What this all boils down to is you're insecure about the Raiders. You know your club is based in a small regional city that prefers fumbleball and rugby union over rugby league. Its future is up in the air because the ACT Gov will never invest in a new stadium and are actively pursuing an AwFuL club of its own.
You're insecure because your club hasn't been worth anything to anyone for the best part of 30 years. Suck it up and move on.
It really bothers you to see Brisbane grow because it reminds you that Canberra will never be anything but a small regional city that no one cares about. It pisses you off because you had to escape to Brisbane to get away from Canberra's bitterly cold winters and lacklustre nightlife. Now you're seeing Brisbane transform into a genuine world city on every metric and it reminds you of your beginnings in poor old unloved Canberra. A third Brisbane team will remind you that Brisbane is a better and bigger place than Canberra will ever be, and that shits you to no end because you think you're better than Queenslanders.
Blah blah blah.
Back in 2020 you said Perth was the favourite to get the 17th licence. You dismissed all the evidence I provided from figureheads within the game as "throwaway lines". Those so-called "throwaway lines" about Brisbane being the location of the 17th licence turned out to be true. You just didn't want them to be true so you deluded yourself into believing they were "throwaway lines". All of the sources I quoted turned out to be right.
You ridiculed me when I said traditional BRL clubs should be introduced into the NRL. We got three traditional BRL clubs bid for the 17th licence. Their bids were so strong that the cashed up "neutral" Brisbane Bombers merged with one. More proof that my idea was right and you were wrong. Reality eventually caught up wirh you and your mates who laughed at the idea of a traditional BRL club entering the NRL. Watching you and your mates whine like bitches in its aftermath of the Dolphins' inclusion was delicious.
You're also stupid and crazy enough to think there's a conspiracy by the ARLC and broadcasters to keep the NRL out of Adelaide and Perth, yet you say there's no way they'll add a third team to Brisbane. Talk about being all over the place. You've deluded yourself into only seeing what you want to see.
Yes Norm was more of an uncle to me growing up, too many tales to tell about him for this thread. The Provans were awesome people. Peter got me a short gig in Balmain Flegg. I broke my collarbone and that was it really.Wow your quick

?
I think you're views are driven by self interest, meandering, overly emotional and often poorly thought out brain farts.
But I'd never accuse you of being a bully, or that you persecute me or others. Your far to benign for that. If you can show me the posts where I did, I'll retract them or clarify there meaning.

I represented Townsville and Country. Rupert Provan was the last to leave us, sad... he was a cool ol dude.
..yeah that's what I thinking. Didn't think about Dave bolton
I met Dave when I was a kid, he called me sonny ha ha.
A snippet about him....Creative Great Britain Test half (1958 and 1962 Lions tours) joined Balmain in the mid-1960s. Bolton played in the Balmain side that defeated Great Britain in 1966 but after returning to England on loan to the struggling Blackpool Borough club, he was injured and almost didn't return for the 1969 season. His guile in that year's grand final led the way in Balmain's shock 11-2 win over Souths. Bolton's two field goals kept the Rabbitohs at bay while he continued to direct play around the rucks. Bolton retired from football when dropped to reserve grade the following year but coached P’matta in 1973-74. He was assistant coach to Tim Sheens at Penrith in the mid-1980s but despite several attempts, could not crack it back into the competitive first grade coaching scene.
Memories....sorry for hijacking this thread.
Don't stress so much mate. You've obviously put a fair bit of effort into your research and unless you are a part of the "Heads of Sheds" our opinions won't win a war.I couldn't give a f**k about what you think because your posts demonstrate you don't think at all.
You don't have a clue how much money is needed to operate an NRL club. The other day you foolishly said that revenue from football operations is irrelevant because the "ARLC provides a grant that covers all expenses of running a club", or something along those lines.
That's complete bullshit!
The annual grant has risen up to $17-18m per club. Before the new deal it was less than $15m. The smallest clubs have been operating on an annual budget of about $25m for years. The bigger clubs operate on $35-40m.
If you cannot get this right then you're in no position to talk about expansion.
A club in Adelaide will need to invest significantly more on its football department (than a heartland club does) if it wants to be successful enough on the park to make headway in a pro-fumbleball market. Money will need to be invested on talent scouts and development officers to identify the best talent in heartland areas and recruit them to Adelaide because there's f**k all talent running around the field in the Adelaide competition.
This is the formula Melbourne used to become so successful on the field.
The problem is the Storm were subsidised by News Ltd and the ARLC for 20 years. Now they're on their own and aren't recruiting as many talented juniors from Queensland and NSW because they're privately owned and can only spend what their owners are willing to invest.
Pretty much everything you've said on this thread has been bullshit and easy to refute.
So you would’ve met Arthur beetson ?
I met Dave when I was a kid, he called me sonny ha ha.

Fùck me potato counting going nutzoHow do you define "enough exposure"?
Is there a quantitative measurement you're using to prove anything above "x" is enough and anything below is not?
Or is it just your biased opinion?
Prove it!
The Gemba Report found Logan and Ipswich have fewest Broncos fans in the Greater Brisbane region. Moreton Bay has the most Broncos supporters. The Dolphins were added despite the fact they're based in the region which has the most parochial support for the Broncos.
@Canard Take a look at these statistics from the Gemba Report. They refute the bullshit you're trying to pass off as facts. You're wrong and have no case.
