After a long period of nothingness the bears have been appearing on my Facebook feed this past few days. Is something afoot with the sudden increase in activity?

this is what i think the game should be aiming for:
central coast bears and a 2nd brisbane team into the nrl in 2016
a perth team and an adelaide team into the nrl in 2020

20 teams, top 8 make the finals.

every team plays 19 games during the normal rounds, instead of the current 24 games for each club. you would play every club once.

scrap the city v country game, but every nrl club must play a trial game in the bush every year

"anzac test" scrapped. all international games be played after nrl finals series

the world club championship played 2 weeks after the nrl grandfinal. every second year it should be played at the nrl premiers homeground, or in their city

the 3 state of origin games played on saturday nights, but keep the 3 week break between soo matches. no nrl games on state of origin weekend. that should increase nrl crowds for games around origin time and would mean more nrl games around origin time would have more of the best players playing, and would decrease the chance of the star players getting injured later from over playing. the week leading up to the origin would have all the focus on the origin and have lots of hype like it is leading up to the grandfinal

2nd nz team , perth , another qld team, those teams are a must ok

The Bears should be NO CHANCE.
The games market expansion requires spots held for a further Perth team , then an Adelaide team.MAX teams in the NRL 18.

Any other team should come from the buyout/move of an existing team. The Sharks , Tigers , Titans , Manly Roosters all appear to have limited membership/growth potential on their own.

As for Norths . Please , if they were serious they would show it by having / building strong junior teams and Reserve grade team. A true amalgamation with Manly makes sense .

Norths coming back would right many wrongs from 15 years ago but that's not the reason to bring them back.
The CC has a population to sustain their own team full time but when clubs like Manly with a poor history with the NE play one game a year it's not fair to judge crowds on that alone. Scheduling alone is poor with most games at Gosford being Friday nights, it doesn't help the cause of bringing fans from Sydney as if it was a Saturday or Sunday game.
Bids like Norths, Pirates and Brisbane 2 are hampered by poorly run clubs and couldn't get a root in a brothel, clubs that don't appear to bring much to the competition off field yet for some reason the NRL want to prop these teams up, mainly one QLD team and 2-3 Sydney clubs.
A medium term plan of relocation of no more than 2 Sydney clubs allows this competition to tap into markets where teams will be financially better off and have larger populations to draw fans from and also not killing off teams identities.

Yes I to have noticed more and more activity on the Central Coast Bears facebook page. I think things will be alot harder this time around especially with the Roosters having Wyong as their NSW Cup side. I'd love to see the Red and Black waving the flag at Central Coast Stadium. Whoever said NSW has to many sides certainly hasn't looked at the NRL finals series over the past two seasons or who has won it. Yes the Central Coast are smack bang between the Newcastle Knights and the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles but we are a region in our own right and look at the NRL premiers of the past two seasons the Sydney Roosters (2013) and the South Sydney Roosters (2014) you certainly can't get any other two clubs closer to each other.

Well, having a lot more sides in NSW makes it a lot easier for NSW sides to dominate the comp. And the Roosters and Rabbitohs cover some of the wealthiest parts of Sydney. The Bears would be leaning heavily on the North Shore for sponsors and support, making them effectively a 10th Sydney team, which isn't really what the game needs when a 2nd Brisbane team, Perth or 2nd NZ side could be added.

I'm confused having more NSW sides makes it easier for NSW sides to dominate the comp ?. Wtf are you serious when sides like Brisbane, the Cowboys, the Warriors and Melbourne have entire cities/Countries to themselves. Doesn't say much for those areas development programs if that is your statement.

10/16 chance to win the comp, ill take those odds.

junior development isnt that important, salary cap is so even and tightly controlled it's not about your juniors more about the money. Roosters are a perfect example of bought not bred.

That doesn't mean anything with the way NRL teams recruit. Last year's premiers, a NSW side, have a stack of Kiwi stars, while this year's premiers have Kiwis, Poms, Queenslanders etc.

Sure all the teams recruit from many areas but one team towns/states would definately have better bargaining power.

Not at all.

On it's own it's hard to get young men with young families to relocate to a new city, add the fact that there're 8 other opportunities to ply their trade for very good money and you make convincing a footy player (and now his wife and children) to move out of Sydney very hard and very expensive.

Every club outside of Sydney has to pay more for a player based in Sydney then the Sydney clubs simply because it is easier for said player to take a smaller contract at one of the other Sydney clubs, then to have to up and move the family.

In my opinion there is room for a NRL club on the CC.
The people behind the bid need to put a business plan to the ARLC with the letters of intent from perspective sponsors.

THE boss of the Central Coast Bears’ bid to join the NRL has slammed the national competition over their lack of commitment to expansion and years of silent treatment.
Greg Florimo, 47, is the chief executive of the high profile bid which relaunched in 2009 following a “throwaway line” from then NRL boss David Gallop about the code’s keenness for expansion.
Mr Florimo said NRL Commission chair John Grant wrote to him 18 months ago following his comments that expansion would be addressed by the end of 2014 but he has not heard a peep since then.
“The NRL will have to address this soon,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“To be left in the dark for the last few years has been difficult.”
He said the Central Coast Bears have not yet met with the new NRL administration and is after “closure” — whatever the Commission’s decision is.

Mariners playing at NS oval:
The Mariners are playing at the well-loved suburban ground as part of a push to grow their fan base.
Central Coast chairman and owner Mike Charlesworth told Fairfax Media that expansion into northern Sydney was “vital to expand our geographic presence”.
“A catchment area of 100,000 people in Gosford and 300,000 on the Central Coast is not sustainable,” he said.
The Mariners also have a match against Adelaide scheduled early next year at Brookvale Oval, home of NRL club Manly.

That's the CC Bears model

Forgetting the fact that ALeague doesnt already have 9 teams in the area....

And anyway, whats the point of a Central Coast team if they cant even play out of the Central Coast?!?!? If you want the Bears back, at least put them somewhere useful (Perth, Adelaide, literally anywhere that isnt Sydney...)
