please NRL, don't do this, the coast is a sh*t hole full of dopey morons who are lazy and fair weathered, people up here will only turn up for the first few games then never return.

It's a sh*t area...and Gosford its self is argurably up there as one of the ugliest towns/cities in Australia, i challenge anyone just to walk through the main sh*t and you'll know what i'm talking about, for every 1 normal person there are 3 bums, give it too Perth.

People up here only care about going to clubs, finishing there Tafe certificates, and the beach, NO ONE GIVES A sh*t ABOUT AN NRL SIDE as many would like to tell you, they don't!!! not one person i know actually cares about a side or not.

Take away the beach, and the Central Coast is pretty much Minto - that's the only reason why people come up here, it has nothing else.

you sound like Fighting Bear, Ronny!

MB

The negative is that this prick didn't lift a finger when the Bears needed help in 1999.

The positive is that politicians, being the arseholes they are, jump on any bandwagon passing by - which shows the Bears are getting some momentum.

True Rockin'
He did sweet FA in 1999, but as you say a member of the NSDRLFC and an election 5 months away [probably]-the red and black campaign bus will return.

Most concerning thing is that this bloke is the Mayor of Gosford.

You realise of course that they were never excluded?

Did you realise:
1. The Bears board met at midnight (unknown to anyone) and said the Bears were "likely" to be insolvent - not actually insolvent.
2. next day - administrators came in and said "JV with Manly is only way to go" and News Limited offered to fund any shortfalls.
3. Manly was apparently "fine" under the criteria - but chose to join Norths in a "JV" and play out of Gosford. Why do this if everything was OK?
4. Luckily for News Limited - the Bears' "administration" was announced a week or two before the criteria - saving News Limited the problem (as with Souths) of having to boot a club out.

yes - the Bears were never excluded. They were cheated.

Yep, if administrators had cause to be involved then that just confirms that the bears were in dire financial straits. The bears management has a case to answer.

Pfft....so it had nothing to do with poor management, like:

Taking great joy in telling North Sydney Council to take North Sydney Oval & shove it, only to see the construction of Gosford predictably take longer than they thought, forcing them to go back cap in hand to NS council who leased them back NSO at 8x the previous rate?

They were totally incompetent. The only cheating that went on was the NS president and chairman leaving with company cars and hanging onto their superannuation immediately prior to declaring insolvency. look into it, that has more to do with their late night meetings than anything to do with News.

I just hate the rewriting of history.

This one is a no brainer. If you were offered to "share" $8M dollars with was legally bankrupt and basically didnt exist. The $8M was quarantined against the debts. Wouldnt you grab it?

If administrators were appointed to every club likely to be "insolvent", then 80% of clubs in eh NRL would be under administration.

Of course the Bears management were appalling - but to conveniently put them into administration just before the criteria, thus saving Manly and a few other clubs, then introducing a deal which handed manly $8 million plus Gosford stadium - very very dodgy. Also happened to save News limited a lot of trouble that a club conveniently threw the towel in - rather than News having to kill them off.

Remember - the CC Bears had been given a regional licence. If the NRL had shown them any support - as they had for Cronulla at least 3 times - then the CC Bears would be around and powerful today.

League NEEDS a feel good story ASAP. After all the bad headlines over the last few months, something needs to happen.

Bringing in PERTH REDS/or/CQ NRL & CCBEARS will be the feel good story of the decade. Both teams will be self substainable. I could care less if their entry means the end of the Cronulla Sharks... they've had their chances over and over again and still messed up. If a kid at school constantly keeps f***ing up it's only a matter of time until they're expelled. Considering how quickly the Sharks are going down the sh*tter, it'd be easier to tell them now and save their team to an extent by moving them to Adelaide or South NZ then waiting until they completely self implode which will only end up in the courts after wards.

The Central Coast first and foremost deserve an NRL license. The BEARS are the team putting in the $$ & time on the Central Coast. Therefore the Central Coast BEARS deserve an entry card ASAP.

I agree but not going to happen till the next TV deal is decided and NRL decides if they can afford it. Won;t be anything until at least mid 2011 at earliest imo.

What they could have done is used the $4.5mill as a back up to announce expansion now then even if the TV deal was less than hoped they could have uused that GF money to cover costs of two new teams (presuming the TV deal does get bigger than now!)

It does seem that CC and Perth are the two main options the NRL is looking at, we just need the $'s in the bank now to give them the final push.

I'd like to see:

CC Bears and WA Reda announced as definates for 2013. Money made available for Cronulla to take some games to Adelaide, NQ to take some games to NT and Manly some games to CQ. Encourage some teams to play their NZ home games in Wellington as well. PNG to get some funds to play in Q'land cup and a scholarship system for PNG players in Toyota cup. If we had that we would be well on the way to a master plan for the spread of the game over the next two decades.

I'd love to see that too. In a perfect world it would happen tomoro, but in reality not much of that will eventuate in the near future.

Canterbury are already taking games to Adelaide - and not cheating the public by using Hindmarsh - they're playing at Adelaide Oval.

NQ to take some games to NT
I thought Penrith were taking yearly trials there?
Manly some games to CQ
Agree
Encourage some teams to play their NZ home games in Wellington as well.
Roosters are taking games to Christchurch - surprised teams have stopped heading to Wellington though.

As for PNG, I think we should keep tabs on our own backyard first... PNG is surely a while off.

All of the above - 11 years fighting against the odds - and Dildo Gallop can't just come out and say "CC Bears in 2013".

No - instead he sits around waiting for instructions from geniuses like Hartigan abot what's best for News Limited whilst they try to exit the game.

How can the CC have the same kind of long term impact on TV deals (even the next one) as Perth or an Adelaide franchise?
