Flanno didn't administer the peptides rather he failed to ensure everything was above board.
That was 2014, 9 years ago, a lot of water under the Bridge!
Yes, water under the bridge but I believe Flanno actually personally introduced Danks and told the boys they could trust him. Biggest mistake he ever made. (Danks was ultimately arrested for fraud in the NT). I doubt Flanno would stray so far outside his area of expertise again.

I thought breaching his ban was a lot worse.

Means he can’t be trusted.

I understand the NRL don’t think much of him.

And he should apply like everyone. He’s got the Ryles disease of grandeur.

I’m willing to forgive, but not being humble and grateful is rubbish.

The club must have its standards.

Reading some news.com / fox sports articles this morning I see the dribbling idiots on NRL 360 last night were spouting that we "must sign Flanagan or Hasler"... seems to be flowing into this forum. I get they both have good claims for the gig and I'd be able to get on board with them... but why "MUST" it be them? Neither are exactly a guaranteed salve and each have a few reasons why they'd be a bad choice. Cheika, also, has reasons he'd be a bad choice... but I like the depth and breadth of his coaching record, and I especially like that he'd be a bold choice. Something daring, and out of the box. This club used to be good at that type of thing
We just sacked dating and out of the box

What you say is true mate, but the whole sequence of events from 2012-2018 dont paint a pretty picture.

In the 2012 NRL season, Flanagan coached Cronulla to finish 7th on the ladder. Flanagan built a reputation for signing key players to the club. Having signed Todd Carney the previous year, Flanagan secured the purchases of Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington from the West Tigers, Michael Gordon and Luke Lewis from the Panthers, and Jonathon Wright from the Bulldogs.

In 2013, following a year-long investigation into the Sharks' supplements program carried out during the 2011 NRL season, Flanagan was suspended from his role for a period of 12 months.[12]

In the 2016 NRL season he guided Cronulla to a top-four finish. They would travel to Canberra in the first week of the 2016 Finals and record a 16–14 victory thus earning a preliminary final at Allianz Stadium. The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks would win this preliminary final against the 2015 premiers, the North Queensland Cowboys, by 32-20 thus earning a place in the 2016 Grand Final. On 2 October, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks would record a 14–12 victory over the Melbourne Storm and win the Premiership becoming the first head coach of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks to win a premiership.

In the 2017 NRL season he guided Cronulla to the finals. In week one, Cronulla played against North Queensland in the elimination final. Cronulla went to be upset 15–14.[13] In 2018, Flanagan took Cronulla to a top-four finish. Cronulla lost their week one final match against Eastern Suburbs before defeating Penrith the following week 21–20. In the preliminary final, Cronulla was defeated by Melbourne 22–6.[14]

On 19 December 2018, Flanagan was de-registered as a coach indefinitely for failing to adhere to the conditions of his suspension in 2014. The NRL integrity unit had found that Flanagan had sent more than fifty emails exchanged between Flanagan, club management, and the football department which was strictly against the conditions of his suspension which included that Flanagan was to have no contact or involvement with the club during his ban. The NRL also fined Cronulla $800,000 as punishment.

In terms of success..

Flanno coached 185 games .. win rate 55%..

Dez coached 458 games.. win rate 56%.

Taking into account longevity and question marks over the Sharks first ever title, I'd back Dez anyday.

Won't happen, but thats my view.

Dez coached financially strong clubs in Manly and Dogs. Both squads at the time had good rosters. Flanno went to Sharks when they were on their knees (13th in 2011 and 14th in 2010). Dez has coached nearly 300 more games in the NRL which is pretty impressive and is 56%.

At the end of the day, if Saints end up with any 1 of these 2 it will be a win. Both these coaches have beaten the cheating Storm in a GF. That is good enough for me to give them the job.

I don’t think the NRL will do us any favours if we appoint Flanno as Coach, as he’s definetly got off side with them twice for cheating & dishonesty.
Is he the type of coach that can set some culture standards that we can all be proud of once again.

I know Fox Sports media are all pushing for him, but he does work there and has mates trying to get him a gig.
For some reason his name was constantly thrown around for the Warriors, Tigers & Bulldogs head coach vacancy.

No bites and for me that’s a concern!

I would be wrapped if the club took a complete left field punt on Michael Cheika, whom commands respect on the World stage & in business.
Team him with some great assistants like John Morris, Josh Hannay, Ben Hornby or Ryan Carr.
The club needs leadership and a bloke that commands respect by players, fans, sponsors & governing bodies.

We agree to disagree.

When he took over the Dogs, he lifted them 8 places on the ladder. Lost in the GF. Got Coach of the year.

He then led the Dogs to another GF where they lost to the Bunnies.

As our club is in a state of wilderness, for mine, a smack in the face of Dez reality is the dose.

He won't take any crap from name players, and is respected by those whom he has coached.

Des, is very well educated at a formal level but doesn't see the need to broadcast it to all and sundry.

He’s a complex character and the right coach for SGI.

Everything changes once he’s on board. A heavy hitter. He’s not a matey coach. The days of Morris dancing and getting drunk with the players will end abruptly.
