Craig Young and personal reference for Finch

Imagine what many in here would be saying if the Sharks Chairman did this and you would be 100% justified in such ch criticism and ridicule.

This is appalling really. The bloke is entitled to provide his personal reference but if you or I did it on our employers letterhead we would be shafted for it

I've met and had a few drinks with your chairman. Good bloke and way too smart to do anything like this.

I suggested he come to the Dragons and he laughed and said "no, your management are the dumbest bunch of merkins I've ever met". Sadly he's probably right

I can't say who will conduct the cleanout but in my opinion, it is time for The NRL to step in and put the Club on notice. Maybe bring in an administrator to reform the board of management and change the way they are appointed.

It's not a matter for the NRL it is a matter for the BOD of our club.

As I said earlier Albert is neither the 1st nor will he be the last to use an employer's letterhead in writing a reference for someone and truth be known there would be lots of them floating around for all sorts of charges that have befallen RL players.

Is it all that different when we had people from the club sitting firmly and visibly in JDB's corner during his trials and tribulations?

I'd hate to think what references would have been written for Chook when he was caught on the wrong side of the law.

What I would like to know is how a copy of a letter written and addressed to a judge ended up in the hands of the media?

As I said before Albert erred in his judgement and did the wrong thing and that is not in dispute

His writing a reference for the troubled son of a friend is not unusual in itself and has nothing to do with bringing the game into disrepute as he was giving a personal account of his knowledge of someone.

The matter is solely for our BOD because Albert took it upon himself to enhance his statement by using club letterhead.

It’s 100% a question of Albert’s judgement in taking a liberty he wasn’t entitled to take nothing more.

If the facts came out about the behaviour of some of our immortals and greatest players and the lengths the club went to to keep it under the carpet it would make Albert’s stupidity look very lack lustre indeed.

For the record Finch’s charges are irrelevant in respect of Albert’s actions as are other charges being irrelevant when character references are given they should be done personally and on your own stationary.

If this was Ivan Cleary or Bellamy or Bennett or Politis or any other high profile person in rugby league, would everyone be saying they brought the game into disrepute? Of course not.

It shows poor decision making and he should stand down for that reason, but any posts saying it is damaging to the game and the NRL should step in and sanction us and fire everyone are just ridiculous.

That is the point he used the Stgeorge letter head & signed it as the Stgeorge chairman.
