I
It's not a matter for the NRL it is a matter for the BOD of our club.
As I said earlier Albert is neither the 1st nor will he be the last to use an employer's letterhead in writing a reference for someone and truth be known there would be lots of them floating around for all sorts of charges that have befallen RL players.
Is it all that different when we had people from the club sitting firmly and visibly in JDB's corner during his trials and tribulations?
I'd hate to think what references would have been written for Chook when he was caught on the wrong side of the law.
What I would like to know is how a copy of a letter written and addressed to a judge ended up in the hands of the media?
If a player brings the game into disrepute the NRL steps in.Why not a club official?
The cases you mentioned are both Dragons players,(JDB, Chook) don't remember B.Finch playing for the Dragons.
Whether Albert is not the only one to write a personal reference. HE wrote it on a STGEORGE ILL letter head. Official letter it was, with no permission from the Board.
Also signing it as the Club's
Chairman.
Now if that not brig the game into disrepute I don't know what is.
Just because others may have written these types of letters for others is debatable. I don't think
they were about tobe sentenced on transmitting child porno images on the internet.
