I understand everyone worrying about Beale, but if we want some eventual success we can't keep wishing on players who're already re-rupturing ACL's. I therefore agree with the Dugan signing as he's a proven quality player. I'd however rather bring up a young kid than sign Todd Carney.

Other examples of clubs stooping to signing former bad boys:
Nate Myles
Greg Bird
Michael Jennings
Wes Naiqama
Willie Mason
Sandor Earl
Dane Tilse
Albert Kelly
Reni Maitua
And I'm sure there are others.
Makes you wonder, why is Dugan any worse?
Dont forget Gaz. "Fire up"!!

Add Chris Walker, (Brisbane, Melbourne, Souths, Titans & Roosters) Daniel Vidot, SBW, to that list.
Rugby League is a game for all and don't forget that there is a least two sides to every story.

Dugan has had discussions with the club for a number of years now. It's not about us grasping at straws. It's about a process and about young men finding their way (or not) in a complex life.

The so-called experts offering advice to the club and telling fans what to think are, for the most part, self-serving wankers who shit-stir for a living.

What do you guys think Dugan could get out of us? Surely we wouldn't risk paying him any more than 300k?

I would give him around 500k mark. He is still a quality player. Just needs more stability so that his game can improve.

The best thing for him might be a move to England. So he can get away from the media here.

Whenever it comes to media and newspaper in general I think of what Denzel washington said in that movie "Training day".

That scene when they are in the cafe.

He holds up a newspaper and points to it and says " See this, it's 90% bullshit....... but it entertains me"

I tend to agree with him, journos are not in the "telling the truth" business, they are purely there to cause shit, create opinion (which is not a bad thing itself, however I prefer good, proper, factual driven articles and not the shit written today) whilst hiding under the guise of "free speech and keeping people honest".

I don't read the paper to see what's happening I do honestly read it for entertainment.

haha, same here.

It's the essential thing that people have to realize. All the bullshit honestly doesn't bother me. It the nuffies who believe what's printed in newspapers is fact, simply because it is in the newspaper. Probably the same people who get outraged by stories on ACA.

Actually, that's what they should be called. The Outraged.

Yar the reality is there must be a huge market for one-sided and bias stories for ACA & Today Tonight to still be on telly (and in prime time too).. but I reckon its the oldies who are still naive, kids these days are a lot more aware of scams & BS (I think) because of the exposure to it online.

In terms of Footy players though... there seems to be some differentiation when its a personal attack/slander though on a person vs unsubstantiated rumors about contracts/signings/in-fighting....

More Denzel Washington...

L. Cdr. Hunter:
"...In the NRL, the true enemy can't be destroyed"

Ding Ding Ding...

Cpt. Ramsay:
"Attention on deck. Von Clauswitz will now tell us exactly who the real enemy is.

.... Von?"

L. Cdr. Hunter
"In my humble opinion, in an NRL world, the true enemy is the Daily Telegraph itself"

The purpose of the Media is to serve itself.

Such a rubbish article by a journalist who's Ego is bigger than the truth.

Denz tells us so !!!
On the topic of Dugan and great 90's movies... what are the chances we sign coaching great Jimmy Dugan instead of Josh?

For those not watching Fox Sports or Twitter, Todd Carney is at Kogarah with his manager ( David Riolo ) & some are suggesting they're going to talk to Peter Doust. I still think he'll stay with Sharks & this is just a good opportunity to force his price up.

Ellis - don't know who this is
Josh Dugan - yes, once NRL approve contract
Feleti Mateo - possibly
Todd Carney - no
halfback before June 30 - possibly
Rangi Chase - possibly

Mike Cooper & Dylan Farrell confirmed, but obviously there'll be quite a few leaving as well. A very different looking top 25 next year compared to this year's list.
