Storm put on 34 points against the dragons in 60 minutes and Broncos 24 in 40 mins against manly.

It comes down to holding the ball.

And neither of those teams will win any comps this year either.

If I'm not mistaken we were down 14-0 today and it wasn't not being able to hold the ball to that point. The total capitulation of 48-10 might have been because we couldn't hold onto the ball, but all that meant was that we gave ourselves no chance after being down 14-0.

We were ambushed today, no doubt. It happens. We could have defended better at the outset, but we had one set or something in the first 12 minutes of footy. And 9 sets in the entire first half. You simply do not win games of footy with that possession rate, I don't care what your side looks like.

Couldn't agree more...but why did we let the possession ratio like that today happen in the first half? Why did essentially the same thing happen against the Sharks, Raiders and potentially also with the Warriors?? What is causing this to occur against teams that can essentially create good go forward???

If Norman was out for the season and Moses doesnt come this season you think we'll win 8 of those games?
Even with Moses and Norman playing I don't think we will win eight of them. But we are a chance. And even without Moses we're a chance as long as Norman doesn't miss too many games.

I didn't see the Warriors game so can't comment on that, but it certainly didn't happen against the Sharks. Our execution was awful against the Sharks, that was what cost us. They were a bit less shit than us after 80 mins.

Against the Raiders we completed at 58% in the first half. Again, awful execution of the basics. Can't blame that today when we had one set in 12 mins. The game simple went against us today. And yeah, we reacted very slowly and it was gone before we blinked. But it's a one off (so far).

We allowed both the Sharks and Raiders too much possession and we failed to control them around the play the ball. Im not sure the Sharks were too shit against us, the coach in their press conference indicated that it was a performance consistent with their 2016 form. If he was happy I think they went Ok.

Agreed. Hence my reasoning why we won't make the cut. I'm as passionate as anyone and am not making comments to put the team down. It's just how I see it.
I'm not knocking you mate. You could well be right. Today didn't exactly fill me with confidence but I still think we're a decent chance of playing finals footy. If I had to bet on it at even money I don't know which I'd choose.

The Sharks completed at 67% and gave away 10 penalties. Flanagan might have said he was happy to a bunch of journos, but only because they managed to win.

The issue in those games was ball control. Not the case tonight, we were just blindsided straight out of the gate and failed to adjust in time. It happens. The important thing is that they come out more ready next week.

We panic due to lack of talk and lack of direction. We are also losing massive amounts of field position due to our poor kicking game.

So a month ago you reckoned Moses was the only difference with us being a Top 4 side, but now you're saying we probably won't win enough games to make the Top 8 even if he was here with Norman.

Their defence that night was better than anything we've come up agaisnt alll season to date, I think that's what Flanagan would've been happy with. We were never in the contest even though our opponents gave away 10 penalties and only completed 67%.

I doubt we would've worried the Roosters today too much even if we didnt give them the 14 point start.

Never crossed my mind that you thought that you were knocking me. I have as much chance of getting this right as anybody, most likely less that most. It's all good, just my observations of 2017 thus far. Don't bet on it, you're $$$ are better off in your pocket.

I dont disagree, but it isn't just our kicking game that's causing the field position issue. Even of our opponents start with the ball in the corner 5 metres out from their own line they have no trouble making plenty of ground to get themselves out of trouble. We're consistently piss poor in this area.
