Couldn't agree more, that last episode felt so rushed and forced, they could've done much more earlier in the season.
For sure.

With regards to Arya and Sansa, it was like they jumped into their forced story line conclusions mid scene. Arya already at the brothel to kill Merryn Trant. Where was the build up? Sansa having already opened the door... Hell, even Stannis' story line with his fleeing army, his wife's suicide and the shortest battle scene in GoT history.

It was all very rushed and made for a messy ending. And exactly why they didn't pace it out a bit better during the whole season has me disappointed.

This.
Every season including this one has been quality.
Some obviously better than others, sure, but to call it a shit episode and a shit season just feels like whinging for the sake of it.

You want a shit season of a show? Tune into any one of the awful pieces of crap that gets trotted out on all the commercial networks every week. The best episode of those shows doesn't even come close to the quality of GoT's worst.

I for one enjoyed every episode of season 5.
It was a lot of build up, and we were left with some pretty juicy cliffhangers.
I for one can't wait for next season. Too bad it's so long away.

Transition seasons are always going to leave a lot of unanswered questions because there's a large unknown about where they're transitioning too, especially with so many of the currently still alive season 1-2 cast spread far and wide more so than at any time before.

I'm not concerned at all, I think the first half of season 6 will be killer, and after that it just depends on where they head (completely of course or somewhat true to whatever future book comes out) considering they've now caught up with the books.

Crikey some of you do like a whinge, the episode was great if you're not concerned with nitpicking around for flaws to bitch about.

Just quit worrying so much about where it will go from here. I'm basically convinced that Jon Snow will return.

I didn't mind it. I agree that some of it felt a bit rushed though. The next 42 weeks are going to suck while we wait for season 6.

Could you provide a graph showing the +/- book to TV differentials, especially in the second half of the story.

lol you should see the uber nerds over at westeros, I do some reading on theories there from time to time.
'1/10'
'Disgraceful'

I knew this season was going to be controversial because it covered the worst books of the series, and those books are primarily political, not much action.
It wasn't without criticism as there was too much violence toward women & it was simply too dark, there needs to be some good stuff.

But I found the finale rather good, there wasn't a whole lot to fault...I thought the walk of shame was fantastic but it was slightly drawn out.
Other than that I enjoyed it and I love that it ended on a cliffhanger.
What is it with this show and people complaining about cliff hangers? Like every finale ends on cliffhangers...

Jon's not dead, well maybe that part of him is...lol
Dunno about Stannis, seemed deliberately ambiguous.

People whinging about whinging. The ironing.

This is a thread to discuss GoT, so don't get your knickers in a twist if someone happens to be disappointed in an episode.

There's no doubt it's still perhaps the best show on tv. Just thought they could have executed episode 10 a little better. How dare I!

Personally I think the pacing of the entire season was completely off. Felt like they tried to stretch about 4 episodes of plot into a full season....yet somehow despite this they still managed to try and cram everything into the final 3 eps.

That could possibly be because I find anything to do with the lannisters and kings landing to be absolutely trivial though now that Tyrion is not involved with them. So all that crap with Jamie going to Dorne or Cersei being arrested was just filler to me.

Daenerys has also done SFA since deciding to stay in Meereen. A bunch of boring "its tradition" political crap. Glad she has now left and seemingly going to have some more dealings with the dothraki as they are awesome. I just seriously hope its not at the expense of wasting Tyrion for an entire season by making him rule a city I could not care less about.

One thing that stuck out to me the most though this season was the amount of ridiculous fatal situations that were solved by simply jump cutting to the characters being safe (Tyrion being dragged underwater by the stone men, everyone but Daenerys being surrounded by the sons of the harpy in the arena). Considering how stretched out a lot of these episodes were I would have preferred they dedicate at least some time to show how these people actually escaped these seemingly inescapable situations.

Jorah jumped in a saved him, & Daenerys was surrounded by her men.

Are you dumb?

Jorah was also being attacked by multiple stone men at the time, so he needed to beat both of them, dive down, and then win an underwater fight with a stone man, resurface, get back in the boat, and then fight more stone men while also rowing a boat. It was hardly a "just jump in and pull him back out" situation.

Daenerys was holding hands with her advisor chick waiting for death until her dragon showed up and she f**ked off. The rest of the people who were until that time trying to protect her were still well and truly f**ked in an arena completely surrounded by enemies. She didn't even take the liberty of having her dragon torch the rest of the sons of the harpy before she left, so they were going to have to fight their way out of there. A situation that 30 seconds prior was shown to be essentially a lost cause requiring a dragon deus ex machina to save the day

Its not pedantic, its a terrible plot hole that you'd expect to see in a dumb action movie like Fast & Furious instead of what is right now the best show on TV.

It could have been solved with 30 seconds of flame breathing awesomeness before she flew away.
