When you look at it like that the player types seem to line up, however I feel there is more skill and potential in the current squad.

Puletua started at 2nd Row, and Waterhouse was a bench prop at that stage.
Final benchie was Shane Rodney

I said in my previous post that we have the best forward pack since 91, because nothing will top that pack. So many large bodies and all of them angry. Cartwright the odd man (size wise) out but all skill. Geyer was amazing to watch. And they all played big minutes back then.

Lets not forget how far over the salary cap that Raiders pack was as well. We had some monumental clashes with them

Not just the 1991 grand final either.

From 89-91 we played them 7 times, beating them in 4 of those.

I doubt many other clubs boasted that record.

You've never met John Cartwright I take it? He was a big unit make no mistake. At 6'2" he was bigger than Barry Walker (not as stocky) and bigger than Paul Clarke. Paul Dunn was half an inch taller.

91 pack had mongrel and then some. So did 03. Clinton, Lang and Ross never took a backward step. Clinton and Lang would just get smashed on a run and do it all again in the next set. Clinton had dodgy hands but a massive ticker. Lang was fearless.

Totally agree. Sattler was also tough as nails, and incredibly fit for the era.

Ivan wants Nathan to win a Comp and play SOO both of whom he won't do at the WT's.. They had to cull players to fit him in. I think when he is say 30 he will go play for him

Because Tigers are so much worse than us this year?

They've beaten 2 premiership favorites on defence alone. With one of the worst 7s in the competition. Can they maintain it? Probably not. But this is year 1 of a rebuild. Cleary would be arriving in year 3.
