I've watched the game through 2018 goggles and thought the same thing! Definitely a try. Can't blame MG for going off the way he did.

In the first few minutes of the game though, 2018 rules would've had an impact:

- Carter's high tackle (2nd tackle in) would've been pulled up.

- Lazarus kicks a 40:20 which would've given them the ball.

- Brandy kicking the ball dead would've given the Raiders a 7-tackle set.

You need to get out more...Out of the house and that area.
Come for a ride in the bitch and out on the boat for a day.

On the Alexander try in the 1990 GF. In the shadows of fulltime, and with the clock stopped with 5 minutes left in those days, Alexander tapped the ball from a penalty just enough so it contacted the tryline, then put his hand on it, all in a split second. It was missed by almost everyone, including the Raiders. Rex Mossop missed it as last night's replay showed. I've got the following on an old VHS from the ABC TV call.

Warren Boland: Penrith get a penalty on the Raiders line.
Arthur Beetson: I wonder if they'll take the two or go for the try? (try is scored before he finishes the sentence)
Boland: I think he might have scored a try.
John Peard (in a wisecracking voice): Go for the try, Arthur.

The only caller I know of who called it was Greg Hartley (a former ref) on the radio. He called it immediately.
