A backline/halves with 4x origin rookies in it? 10 rookies all up? That would become a blow out IMO.

Although with injuries, form and retirements fromrep footy we will be forced into a high number of rookies.

But I think guys like Woods will be auto picks if fit due to that.
So you don't understand Woods is a girl? Sharon Woods.....hello?

If he plays, NSW deserve to be flogged....again.

If JDB isn’t picked this year, the selectors need to f**king resign. And Jackson, I just don’t see the hype around him. Looks like he works really hard with ability to sweat profusely but in reality does f**k all. I would comfortably pick Crichton ahead of him even at this stage of his development.

I never said I wanted him picked. But I guarantee he will be.

Experience is going to get a few duds in simply because of how many rookies will almost be required to be picked.

Well I am pretty sure fittler will do a decent clean out.

The team will come from Panthers, Saints, Souths....and possibly a rooster. He has already said they must be from winning in form teams.

It's time to sweep out the duds who have had their chances but delivered nothing.

With QLD team coming from Storm, Cowboys and Broncos who have all be shown up to be mere mortals, the time is ripe to go in for the kill.

Pick sloths and our chance to turn the tide will be lost

If we don't pick a few rookies, how do we expect to win? If we pick the majority of the same side and experienced players, we are picking a team that has consistently lost. We need to change things up, even if it means we lose this year. Build new foundations for success in the future. The old team will not win, they had their chance, bring on the rookies.

Edit.
At least it will be more interesting instead of the same old plodding Lozza ball.

Depends if you think the Dragons and to a lesser extent us are the real deal then surely you pick from the top teams regardless of the experience.

On the other hand if they think Roosters and Sharks will come good then they should have the majority of the team FTR I would run with this:

Tedesco
Turbo
Aitken
Mitchell
Addo-Carr
Maloney
Cleary
Vaughan
McInnes
De Bellin
Sims
Graham
Frizzel

Cook
RCG
Klemmer
Jake Turbo

Aitken's running game is sensational but he has a shitload of bad defensive reads in him, i think he'd get exploited badly in Origin.

I think the wingers should pick themselves, Ferugson and Addo-Carr. Easily the best two in the competition right now.

The centre positions seem to be wide open. My preference is for Dylan Walker and James Roberts. But I've got no idea what Fittler has in mind.

Whatever we choose I just hope it was some serious speed.

I would love to see Roberts and Carr on one side. However, I think Carr would benefit from having a ball playing centre inside him with a bit of size. Not sure who it should be.

Waqa Blake would be my first choice. Bit out of left field but someone like Jack Whiton. He isn't a great FB but would actually be a good centre in my opinion. Strong can pass/run.

McLean and Mansour would be walk up in my team but are injured. Keary/Green play the same side of the field as Maloney. The likes of Woods, Cordner and co are out of form... Blooding so many rookies is the only way

Pretty much. I'm curious as anything what Freddie actually goes with. He's not scared of playing young blokes like Loz was.

Does RCG deserve to be selected for the Blues?

From what I have seen this season he has been good but hardly outstanding.

I'm not a huge fan of stats, they don't always tell the whole picture, but is he on form a must front row selection for the Blues.

I watched the Roosters v Sea Eagles game yesterday and the performance of Marty Taupau was incredible. More than 25 hitups and 250 plus metres gained. I know Taupau is a Kiwi just using his stats as an example of what other front rowers are delivering when RCG's returns are modest by comparison.

Tend to agree Kilkenny. FWIW I'd have him in there but i think people get a bit carried away because he has the ability to put on a big hit once or twice a game.

Tamou would be getting crucified if he put out the numbers RCG did the last couple of weeks.

I'm not someone who bothers too much with stats other than looking at our own stats after each game ie overall game stats as well as each individual.

Curiosity got the better of me so after a little googling found the page on the NRL website listing total stats for season to date and have to say the stats for RCG appear to be a little underwhelming. 9 games, 86 runs for 790 metres, 1 line break, 2 offloads and 4 tackle busts. The running metres would also include metres gained bringing the ball back after a kick off where you would gain 10 metres or more each time. The much maligned Aaron Woods whose place RCG is most likely going to take has 9 games, 131 runs for 1115 metres, 4 tackle busts and 17 offloads. Interesting.

Edit. On stats alone James Tamou's number's are better than those of RCG.

I think when RCG had that period last year where his statistics were immense, it was when he was coming off the bench. If he comes on once the defence is tiring (or against the bench forwards of the opposing team) he seems to have significantly more of an impact. Perhaps if we still had fit players up our sleeve we could try it again, but unfortunately the only real option is switching Tamou back into the starting side with RCG off the bench.

RCG and Tamou are both running for far less metres than other star props. Tamou off the bench has crack the 100 metre mark a couple times. But how many rep front rowers struggle to pump out 100metres in a game? both boys average less thsn that.

Every RCG run is at full pace. But hes running far less often this year than he did last year. He needs to take on more workload in attack.

Im hopeful playing for NSW will bring back the 2017 RCG. I think he is the type who will fire up getting to rip into QLD. But if all players were available for NSW I dont think his 2018 form warrants selection.

Not ahead of McLean. Vaughan. Klemmer and Fifita.

The misleading part about Woods and Klemmer is they get big metres but at the expense of a quick ptb and Woods particularly is looking for an offload too much. While RCG is a little down on what I'd expect he at least provides momentum for the halves.

There running less metres than Timmy Mannah.

I've been a critical as anyone about Aaron Woods and believed him to be overrated but you couldn't pick RCG in front of him for SOO. Woods outputs far exceed what RCG is delivering.

At the end of the day thou, for me it's not about NSW it's about the Panthers. RCG is out of contract and obviously has been in negotiations with the club but nothing yet signed. I don't think RCG is deserving of a mega money four year deal when he isn't in the top dozen or so front rowers in the game. Having watched recent performances from the likes of Klemmer, Fifita and Taupau I wonder how much better we would be if we had a front rower capable of performing at there level.

Gould needs to be very careful with his offer to RCG. [/QUOTE]
