God was mocked so the thread did not work out the way author thought it would.

Then people who hold worthless musicians in high esteem took over.

You know I listen to to better music than you, that crap can go on forever.

Then the thread killer came.

lol, blow me.

Suity, if we ever got to meet and smelt each others arses we would find an attractive oozing smell permeating from our togetherness due to the exposure we both had to the incredible late 60's to mid 70's contemporary music influences we love.

I saw Little Feat, Uriah Heap, Rick Wakeman and Yes, I even went and saw Gary Glitter, T-Rex, Status Quo, Ossi Bissa, Santana, Elton John, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Caravan, etc, etc.

I wish I saw Steely Dan back then.

I was also heavily exposed & mixed in the local sydney rock music industry, so spent lots of time at the Bondi Lifesavers Club, The Basement, Coogee Bay Hotel, The Tavern, The Carousel, The Green Elephant, The Paddo Town Hall, etc, etc, with bands like very early Cold Chisel, AC DC, Midnight Oil, Rose Tatoo, Hush, Sherbet,.... loved the Saints, Birthday Party. Just so many to list here.......

Obviously, we both loved the same music. Gees, I really enjoyed those days, used to regularly get picked up by gorgeous older women (early 30's to late 30's), we'd go back and do the do do do do.

One experience was bloody depressing, she put on Harvest from the moment we walked into her apartment until I fell asleep depressed. I think I was her doctor that night. I have never since tried having sex to "Needle And The Damage Done", "Old Man" (Take A Look At My Life), etc, etc,

Loved all that stuff. Harvest - one of the top ten Albums of all time.
As for pubs, I spent my time at the Family at Rydalmere, and the Vicar of Wakefield in Dural. Saw Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Aussie Crawl etc...... at these places.

A little bit more obscure would be the years of Friday nights spent drinking at The Rest Hotel, Milsons Point, singing along to every single tune played by Pat Drummond.

Hey Suity, HJ & others, did any of you get into Nick Drake "Way To Blue" back in the early 1970's (could have been late 1960's) but I didn't come across him until the 70's??? This guy was an unheralded genius as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lcq2te3XWWc Way To Blue

What about early TOTO, Alice Cooper & Tim Buckley????

And I still love putting on "Machine Head".... one of the greatest rock albums ever

"Welcome to my Nightmare" is another all time top 10 album.
As for Nick Drake.........sorry, unknown to me.

We've had a thread before named "Top 10 albums of all time", but it would be sacreligious of me to bring that up in this thread.

No but Jesus did and we have awoken the wrath of God and for our insolence Parramatta Leagues Club will be swallowed into the earth, the statue of Ray Price will bleed forever from the eyes and Sparky's true Satanic form will emerge

oh dear, it worries me that Casper and I have such a common interest in some music

soon I'll start doing 500 word posts

Gypsy Queen one of Uriah Heaps best, still not up there with Little Feat though

If you are into the Moody Blues you may like to listen to Opeth, many people compare them the Pink Floyd but I think they have a lot in common with the Moody Blues as well.

Knights in White Satin was their best imo.

Well... Twizzle.... my 500+ word posts are full of substance so I welcome you to create some 500+ word posts of substance...:lol::lol:

Though a very good band, I don't think Opeth is anything like Pink Floyd or Moody Blues. They just don't have the ambiance of either of these supergroups, even though I do love their classical trained back grounds.....

Twizzle, we were just spoilt rotten by the saturation of so many great bands and solo artists that came into our lives between 1966/67 and 1975. So much of todays music is crap to me, as it was through the 80's, and 90's bar some brilliant exceptions here and there but geees, the list goes into the hundreds of all the extraordinary unique talent full of soul that swooned us through that Golden Era of contemporary music.

How lucky we were to grow up with so much awe inspiring talent enchanting us week after week, year after year....... if only it could all be repeated for all the generations that came along after ours, to experience all this music ALL coming out of nowhere, ALL unexpected, with very little reference points to the sounds and vibes and textures that swept us all up with its beauty and without the nasty inhibitors of institutionalisation, culturalisation and politicalisation which is destroying the soul of so much music making since that time.
