Mate typical bully boy threats from an organisation that doesn't have any real proof or evidence but threatens to come and get you if you don't fess up to the crime. It's a load of crap, they have nothing, the Sharks should stand firm and admit to nothing, if they genuinly had proof they would hand the case over to the Feds or ACC for charges than DPP for prosecution. Tell them to f$&k off.

Lets face it, ASADA are made up of all the androtrop science nerd types who were picked on by the sporty types and now want revenge and power.

The whole saga is a crock of shite. Anyone who believes that we were actually on performance enhancers any year in the past decade is f**king delusional.

We will be fine. Sharkie till I die. Hope we strip ASADA for every cent they have cost us in sponsorship deals.

I was watch SBS news and they even started with the sharks 'Crisis Meeting' headline, followed by a cross to the leagues club with the reporter looking baffled and explaining no one had showed up yet. Basically same as ABC by the sounds. What a joke. F*ck the media and f*ck all this ASADA bullshit. I don't believe any of it. I wouldn't have expected this shit from SBS.

This is what Paul Kent said on NRL 360 (I just rewatched it)

"There has been reports all day about what has happened at the Sharks and everyone has tried to find out whats going on. Well we now know exactly where it stands and I haven't heard this on any of the news reports....

This was sort of brought about by Cronulla's own admission in a way.
What happened was, last night the Sharks held a meeting with 14 of their players and bought in a former prosecutor of ASADA. They laid out what they knew about their 14 players and seeked advise from the former ASADA lawyer on how they should handle it. The lawyer basically told them to either put their hand up and cop a 6 month suspension, or continue to fight it at the risk of a possible 2 year suspension down the track"

That is pretty close to word for word what Paul Kent said at 7:45pm.

Last night cronulla organised a meeting with the 14 players who were at the club in 2011. Invited to the meeting was a former ASADA employee. He was asked what should the players do? he replied, come clean and put your hand up if you have anything to hide. cop the 6 month ban and move on Or continue to play and if found out face the full 2 year ban! The media have got hold of parts of this today and run wild. no meetings have taken place today with ASADA!!!

Yeah but doesnt mean that the players who were there in 2011 didnt get in the ear of new recruits in 2012 and tell them about this miracle drug etc... Not saying that happened, but it could be why they keep saying 14 players.

Also, Gallen spoke about the drugs issue this morning on the Big Sports Breakfast.
They played a snippet of it tonight on NRL 360.
Did anyone catch the interview this morning? He sounded pretty positive from the small sample played tonight.

And for those who missed it, NRL 360 is replayed at 9:30pm

“@JacktheInsider: If I’m hearing the ABC 24 reports correctly, Ted Baillieu has just signed with the Sharks.”

This article gives some actual facts!

http://www.theleader.com.au/story/1346656/sharks-in-troubled-waters/?cs=12

CRONULLA Sharks preparations for their opening home game on Sunday have been thrown into chaos as the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) steps up its investigation into drugs in sport this week.

With the eventual threat of possible suspensions as a consequence of the ongoing investigations, agencies have suspended all betting on the Sharks home game against the Gold Coast Titans at Shark Stadium.

The Cronulla board met with ASADA officials on Monday, and players held a meeting on Tuesday night to discuss the ongoing investigations.

It was the latest of a number of meetings which didn’t involve coach Shane Flanagan since ASADA visited the Sharks and five other NRL clubs during last month’s preliminary drugs-in-sport investigations. Significantly, it was the first attended by player managers.

When news filtered out about the players’ meeting, the Sharks’ Wednesday morning training session was effectively off limits to the media and any other onlookers, with training going ahead behind closed gates.

Later, the club cancelled a planned player appearance for Thursday at Westfield Miranda.

With club president Damian Irvine away, long-time Cronulla Sharks director Craig Douglas took charge of the ongoing investigations at the club, before later attending a meeting in the city.

There he was briefed about the ASADA inquires, centering on what knowledge players might have about the possible use and/or distribution of banned performance enhancing substances — in particular during the 2011 rugby league season.

Douglas, one of the architects behind the Sharks turning around their debt and the club gaining approval for their $300 million property development, returned but refused to make any comment, before planning another meeting with club directors.

ASADA was briefed originally following a damning report by the Australian Crime Commission over links they made between organised crime, importation of illegal drugs and the distribution of banned substances among sporting clubs in various states of Australia.

The Leader understands rugby league, AFL and other sporting clubs form just a small part of a more serious investigation by crime authorities, targeting organised crime.

A spokesman said the gangs had increasingly moved on Australia’s east coast as a means to increase their profits from the importation of illegal drugs, as well as performance enhancing drugs which are banned by the World Anti-Doping Authority.

An ASADA spokesman said late yesterday that investigations into Cronulla Sharks players were ‘‘still at the early stages of investigation’’.

The spokesman said no players would be facing possible suspensions ‘‘at this early stage’’.

A Sharks spokesman has refused to make any comment as the Leader newspaper went to press tonight.

The 2013 Sharks first grade squad contains less than half the players who played for the club in 2011: captain Paul Gallen heads those remaining, and including Anthony Tupou, Wade Graham, John Morris, Ricky Leutele, Matthew Wright and Chad Townsend, were selected in a 20-man squad for Sunday’s game against the Gold Coast Titans at Shark Park. The others are Stewart Mills, Ben Pomeroy, Nathan Stapleton, Sam Tagataese and Nathan Gardner, who were not included in the 20 for Sunday. There is no suggestion that any of these players are subject to the ASADA inquiry.
