Selective quoting, shame on you EL.

I dont need stats to tell me that when Smith bailed on us last year (which he is very good at - not finishing contracts), Parramatta were a rabble, at best, lacking any discipline on or off the field.

Im one of the very very few knights fans that don't believe Smith is a god. TBH, Smith should have bailed alot earlier than he did.
You just can't win with most Parra fans. Hes a merkin for not finishing his contract, but hes also a merkin for hanging around? The players IMO, responded accordingly to their coach.

That Pea-Hearted comment relates to all but 3 of the Newcastle side in recent times...

eeerm we had Johns, Gidley, Carney, Quinn, Smith etc etc last year. and at any rate we fell apart without Buderus.

Parra are still a pea hearted rabble.

a rabble thats won enough games to be looking at a home semi and is currently 3rd.

Booked your September holidays yet? ;-)

Of those 3, only Hayne played first grade last year. Neither Mateo nor Inu were selected last year.
Mateo played one game in 2004, did well, and was cast off. Didnt play first grade again until this year.
Kris Inu made his first grade debut this year.

Yeah true. I don't know what the go with Mateo was. He is in the top half-dozen or so back rowers in the game, such is how devastating a player he can be. I'm not sure what Brian didn't see in him (or JT for that matter).

Funny, its the team that Smith built is sitting 3rd, and the team that hagan built is well...

Funny that Smith has also won 8 games without Johns, did hages manage to do that in 6 years?

we lost against the premiers, at their home, missing most of our team.

it was a disgraceful performance.

you lost against a team you scoff at, at your home, with your whole team.

it was a disgraceful performance.

wow, 2 wins

lets take 500k worth of players out of your team and see how you do.

you will prob finish on top of us this year. but I am particularly confident of a reversal of fortunes in 08.

This is what sh*ts me about you Parra fans!

FFS!

Anyway, anyone would of said before the season Parra has a better team and would likely finish higher than the Knights.

We bought Smith to re-build our team.

You got Hagan to take advantage of the team you already have.

Both are going good.

But your arguments are downright sh*t.

Im sorry but if you dont measure a great coach by premierships won how do you? When you remember Names in Rugby League Coaching like Sheens, Bennett and Gibson they were and are remembered because they won premierships.

Brian Smith does not fall under this category and never will. Neither does Hagan but he is just at the start of his coaching career.
2001 ring any bells?

Smith did well to build the side in 97, Parramatta needed a decent coach who's had plenty of experience, as well as experienced players like Dymock, Pay, McCracken, J Smith that were there before Smith. Parramatta had plenty of experience in 96, just needed a decent coach.

So I give Smith credit for taking Parramatta to the finals for the first time in 11 years.

I just think he made the wrong moves when we were in a good position. They went backwards after 2001, until 2005 when we bought those big name players, then f***ked it up in the last match as he always does.

I have no doubt Smith will do the same to Newcastle like he did with Parramatta in 1997, although I wouldnt surprise me if like Parramatta make the GF or GF qualifier and choke it.

JT was just frustrated, and I was surprised he made a comment like that, in the end all it mattered was we got the cash. :D

I was refering to the fact of Hagan not being a great Coach yet. Because i knew if i didnt all the Newcastle fans would jump up and down and say how can i say Hagan is great and Smith is not.

Hagan is not great but he can get the job done and is better then Smith.

That was Warren Ryan, and a bunch of players in the blue and red jersey.

Why didn't Ryan win in 2000 with a better side if he was such a god?

I am no Hagan fan, but geez, give the guy some credit. It's absolutely pathetic to say that he had no input whatsoever in 2001!!!
