Hmmm so two of these were deemed to be a Grade 1 charge, whilst one is a grade 2?
Exhibit A: Su'a - bends his knees, lowers his back, hits with his shoulder. Good front on tackling technique, Finucane drops forward in the wet, contact with head. Finucane clutches his face, farcical sin bin ensues. "Direct, forceful contact with the head"....yet no HIA required for Finucane. GRADE 2
Exhibit B: Ramien - on his tippy toes as his target zone is high (well above the ball), risky tackling technique for injury to self (shoulder, pec) and opposition player (head). Tackle slips high, player sin binned. GRADE 1
Exhibit C: NAS - 3rd man into a tackle that he was not needed for, clenched fist, direct contact to the back/side of head against a player he had a running battle with. No sin bin, GRADE 1.
wtf am i missing here?
If the NRL are fair dinkum about player safety, protecting against concussion, out of the 3 tackling techniques, they've gone and suspended the one technique that should be encouraged, bending your back, driving through the hips and hitting low......and let the other 2 off with just a fine?
