the northern beaches has a pretty high price of living but i still believe there's no way there should be concessions just cos it costs a lot to live there..

Fittler has just purchased a semi in Clovelly. He paid $1.3 mill for it. The same house in Penrith would be worth about $400k. Work it out. I was brought up in the Eastern Suburbs but I'd have to win lotto to buy a house there.

Do you think he's struggling with loan repayments?

If this happens then this would have to be one of the most pathetic actions taken by a club in modern rugby league. It's up their with Melbourne's defence in the Danny Williams case. I'd be embarrased to be a Roosters Supporter today.

Why do the roosters always have that lame argument that the NRL should abolish the cap all together and just let the strong clubs survive? That would bloody kill the NRL as the only teams that would survive would be the panthers, dogs, roosters and broncos. You have to wonder how big the brains are of roosters fans #-o

The Eels, Manly, Warriors, Saints would also survive. The three new teams wanting in would survive also. Wests Tigers are getting themselves into a position now for long term survival. The Cowboys and Melbourne

It would far from kill the NRL, in fact it would make it stronger in the long term. You see the NRL had to knock back THREE viable and strong applications for a spot in the Premiership because the game couldn't afford it. The game can't afford it because it has to keep propping up clubs going nowhere or clubs that can't manage there finances.

Concessions for length of tenure would mean Ricko could get what he deserved, and the Cap wouldnt strain the club as much allowing for a little extra to be given to the players, who may live in the Easts NOT out of choice but out of NECESSITY. NECESSITY toIt has everything to do with being close to the club and training facilities of the club.

If it's putting so much pressure on the club, wouldn't such an astute businessman like Politis simply buy a training venue outside of the Eastern Suburbs. Problem solved! Next point on the agenda.

Well they train at Wentworth Park, which isn't exactly in the heart of the Eastern Suburbs is it!!!! being on the other side of Wattle Street i imagin it is getting close to the Balmain area....

But perhaps they do have a valid point. Its like the Storm say, they need more cash because they have to lure people to move to melbourne. perhpas the Rooters need to do the same?! I mean, who would want to live in the Eastern Suburbs anyway!!

We all want higher paying jobs, bigger fancier houses, new cars etc....but despite what many down at the Rosters may think.... You can't have everything you want in life!

Politis should f**k off. Simple as that. I believe he has too many fingers in pies at the moment. CEO of the Roosters and a member of the NRL Board. Conflict of Interest there? Um... YES!

What an absolute joke this is. Sydney is a big place - I'm sure if all these players are so 'desperate' to play for the Roosters that they could find a share house out in the cheaper suburbs and catch a train to Bondi. Please  I've never seen such a pathetic attempt to 'protect the empire'. :x

Do you guys now realise why you are so hated?

In that case, the answer is simple Cogburn:

Relocate the club to a cheaper area!

Would you still support your boys if they were known as the Blacktown/Rooty Hill Roosters? Has a nice ring to it!

We need an N.R.L club between here and Parramatta. Let's face it, most of you Roosters supporters live in this area anyway!

Even I had a chuckle when I heard it on the radio this morning. Surely the roosters are just badgering the NRL rather than being serious about it.

Ah should've known the Roosters would have another crack at the salary cap, talk about stooping to new lows!    I thought house prices were coming down anyways?? Thats beside the point anyways.

There is simply no way this request can be taken seriously. Here's another lame ass idea for the roosters to get on the NRL's back again.............since the Brisbane house market is so much cheaper than Sydney , how about we reduce their salary cap by 200K???

Seriously , this club has the lamest excuses to have the salary cap increased and it peeves me no end!! The only clubs who i would say have any fair complaints on the cap are Saints and to a lesser extent Wests Tigers and any other club who develops their own talent but cant keep hold of them.

As for the roosters........please ......SHUT UP!!

If the Roosters are so professional, why are they asking for the increase? Why don't they buy a block of units, rent out the rooms to their players at undervalued prices and run a charter bus to training. That's probably what you do for your Jersey Flegg kids who collectively are paid about 5-6 times more than their nearest club.

The Roosters did buy a block of flats in Bondi for some of their players to live in.

Yep that was for most of the Flegg boys and some junior kids from Redcliffe.

Ok, putting all your Rooster hostilities aside.

In the real world, jobs in Sydney pay a lot more than jobs in Melbourne and then Brisbane. I work in the insurance industry so for an example, a motor vehicle claims officer in Sydney would pay upto $40-45k a year. In Brisbane, the same job is $30-35k. Why? The cost of living in Sydney is so much higher than elsewhere.

So putting this into perspective, is it fair to have a blanket cap accross the whole code when you consider the example I've given? Doesnt seem so.

IMHO I dont think the Roosters expect to get the concession, if they did then every Sydney club should also get it. I think they're more pointing out to the NRL for those other clubs who are asking for concessions, that it would have to consider every clubs request as they are valid and then the cap would blow out.

First post so go easy, but I think the roosters are just trying to see what the NRL do in reaction, because it does sound silly.

No salary cap with a system in place for transfer fees. Clubs like the Cowboys would benefit from that as they would get a transfer fee for every player that comes from there junior catchment area to another club. Also News LTD own North QLD so finances will be OK.

As for Wests Tigers they have 3 leagues club and have now got sponsors everywhere. They have a large supporters base. They have the MacArthur area as a junior catchment area.

The only clubas that would not survive most likely in an era of no cap and transfer fees would be Souths and Cronulla.

Living allowances?

WTF? Living anywhere in the city would be fine for them. According to the NSWRL Penrith is considered the city so they can live out our way and still 'city' live.

I travel 3hrs a day, 5 days a week to and from uni so they could easily travel the 35mins from say Parramatta to Sydney.
