Dd you watch the 2007 Grand Final? See the hit he put on Brett Stewart? Legal or not it really put a game winner like Stewart off his game. Name me the last time one of our players made someone watch for them in defence.

Not wanting unwanted publicity? Still happy to have Hayne, Finch, Cayless, Hauraki, Paulo, Grothe and even Hindmarsh in the team? All have had their own forms of unwanted publicity at various points. That said, when was the last time Crocker was in the media for the wrong reasons?

Truth is we should be lining up and offering him a decent match payment deal for this year and offloading players for next year to fit him in.

The flipside however is the reason he was trying to go to the UK in the first place - his body. Part of the reason he will retire if he can't get a deal in the UK is his alleged inability to cope with the training to keep him at the peak fitness due to ongoing injury concerns.

That said the powers that be should be lining up to get him if he wants to play.

I'd say Kylie Leuluai, but even that was too long ago.

I think Crocker has got more SKILLS than Cayless and Hindmarsh combined. We won`t get him, but it`s interesting to conject about.

I don't know about that. Cayless' offloading ability and his ability to throw a great ball before the line, while under-utilised, are brilliant. And Hindmarsh doesn't offload too often these days but his offload is as good as any - remember a few years ago when we scored a try against Cronulla on the last because he offloaded the ball with 4 tacklers on him? Hindy is class, and you never lose that.

If the club thinks Crocker is a worthwhile investment (ie: he can bring us or help bring us an elusive Premiership) then it is their duty to make sure he's signed.

I think that yes, he can definitely help us out. Thus it follows you should do whatever you need to to get his services. I'm not saying spitting in people's faces, saying, "You suck - we'll sack you and get Mick," but we need to do something if we're serious.

Hages wanted to play safety first remember.

And yes, Caylo and Hindy had very good offloading abilities. It was taken out of their games.

at 28 he is probably approaching his use-by date which is why he was going to england in the first place id rather sign an up and coming youngster who will stay at the club for 4-5 years than an old timer looking for a 2 year retirement gig

Crocker would be good for a 1 year deal, but otherwise I would be chasing a player like Luke Douglas from the Sharks.

Hindmarsh is 29. Does that mean if he went on the open market nobody would look at him because he's too old?

Crocker is experienced and a proven performer. Being 10 down with 5 to go wouldn't faze him - he's been there, done that. A 21-year old straight out of the NYC may decide, "I need to pull a rabbit out of a hat here." It may work, it may not. But the experience Crocker has is invaluable.

Crocker is dirty and takes cheap shots. Not our style. Many people would describe him as

black-cat.jpg

He doesnt like getting beaten (who does?), but when he gets frustrated, he loses the plot and goes cheap. We dont need anyone sent off and leaving the team a man down.

The Eels could well do with a Crocker style of player. I reckon the Crocker camp will sort out the visa issues and he'll finish his career with the poms as planned.

there might be nobody like this available on the open market, but id go halfway between your two choices and pick someone in their mid 20s with good first grade experience but not so old they are looking to retire in 3 years as i said i want to see them have a good 4-5 years at the club (not to say if we signed crocker he couldnt play for another 4 years but its unlikely)

I'd be absolutely flabbagasted if we didn't atleast explore the idea of bringing a bloke like Croker at the club.
