I don't mind the change up in jerseys occasionally. The red V is always going to be the symbol of the dragons but I like the idea of 1 off collectors items. This will be one of those times.

I will always own 1 or 2 versions of the Red V jersey, but I also grab the away jerseys when I can and any of those special event jerseys. I don't have a problem with it as I know the traditional jersey will always stay the same and we will continue to play most of our games every year in it.

There's no accounting for taste. I'm all for people spending their own money to buy whatever crap they like. I think that can still happen without affecting the integrity or sanctity of the playing kit. Make it a training jersey or something.
We ask players to show some pride in the jumper, yet we give them 4 or 5 to play in every year, and one of them is purely a billboard for a Hollywood movie. It's a bit nuts

I'd say you've typed out the meeting minutes verbatim there Ted.

Why haven't the Australian Cricket Board explored the lucrative synergy opportunities in monetizing the baggy green cap to cross-promote the Ninja Turtles? They are behind the times my friend

The baggy green cap is a lot more prestigious than the red V. You can't even buy the replica.

Short term profit... Or they intend to make this annual offer and "force " families to dish out for super heroes jerseys each year. Much like our kids with the PS$ or Xbox... gotta get the latest version of black ops dad...

Our strip should have 2 options... the Red v, and our alternate/gong strip. Anzac day strip is a rort... why not poor more money into the vets struggling with health and accommodation, rather than spending money on a new strip. Its a traditional day, keep it that way.

By the way, who profits here... Marvel ? ISC? CLUB?

You'd think the club (and maybe ISC too). Why would the Dragons pay Marvel to have Iron Man on their jersey?

Yeah I see it a different way. When passionate players score a try what do they jump up and point to? Not the Red V, not the red and green stripes etc, they point to the badge in the corner. They're showing pride in playing for their club - irrespective of what their jersey looks like. That badge in the corner will always stay the same (unless of course we merge with someone else  ).

I know what you are saying and completely understand. I guess I just don't see an issue with the occasional jersey design change when the Red V remains the same for 3/4 of the season.

Not suggesting Nick the club would pay, just wondering how profits, if any will be disbursed and or apportioned.
Will be very keen to see the price tag on these.

I like it. Iron man is a bloody gun and he has many guns and we are the gun team so it is fine. Not too tacky. Young fellAs would enjoy wearing it especially the iron six pack.

Hell, it's the only way I'll ever have a 6 pack so I'm grabbing one!!!

The attitude of making money above all else has trickled down and enveloped everything within the game, from clubs to players and now to fans if this thread is anything to go by. There is precious little romance or idealism left in the game these days, and it is these qualities which truly attracts people in my opinion - look at the abovementioned baggy green cap on Boxing Day for example, or even our own traditional Anzac Day game. I like to think of our club as the most romantic and idealist of all, and to see us stooping to this level is, for me, a sad reflection of the state of the code as a whole.

Making money is important of course, but the costs should be considered as well as the benefits. I don't think the NRL does that enough.

Well said. Excellent post & sums it all up.
