If Benjis dropped he will move on. There’s no way he wiil look at lower grades. He will know he tried but wasn’t good enough. It’s not give up on him time yet tho . Soon but not yet

Youre probably right.

He will probably go back to media, he could be an expert commentator on the abc.

He has friends in business too.

In some ways he leaves the club in a better state than he found it in terms of recruits at least.

Providing that they gel this year.

Ideally he can get us to 9th best case, secure Galvin for unders and then decide put his family first.

Mary said he wanted to spend more time with his dad, that lasted only a couple of months.

He’s described himself as a rookie coach in an attempt to lower expectations I suppose, that was a strange submission.

It’s such a high profile job.

But it’s not his sole fault, the club has to take responsibility and that includes Richo and Co.

So unless we get some footy goodness this year, I think we need to revisit the merit of the changes and decisions made.

So I only occasionally post twice in a row, but the considered expectation of the game at large is that we should win this game and win it in convincing fashion.

And if we don’t win it, as @Vic Mackey has opined, our club is in more trouble than it’s worth thinking about.

And vic mentioned “club” not just the side and coaching and I understand the import of that now.

We like to panic and if we lose I can’t see us not panicking …but it might be justified.

So it’s one of those matches whose implications might be with us for a very long time in the hallowed dusty corridors of the white elephant.

Only Round 2 as well makes its significance even more unusual.

Official pet member woofy reckons we’ve got dis:

If we lose, I don't think its season over. Not with the talent we have this year.

There is a long long way to go. The issue is that we need to see the team show some form and then retain that form for a reasonable amount of time.

Hopefully we start this week. We have pretty close to a full strength team.

I'm hoping we'll go in with type of game plan this time around, rather than "just play and see what happens" which were the instructions for the spoonbowl 2024

That we were only told about this after the game left a very bad taste in peoples mouths.

It was basically used as an excuse for another crap performance by Benji-an unwise thing to do and then to reveal.

I felt for the fans and members suckered in to attend. They were there under the false pretence it was going to be a proper game, not an early mad monday on the paddock.

It was disrespectful.

I feel dread that we're going to lose and lose badly, once again being the butt of jokes across the land. Media to have a field day and more articles and NRL360 segments.

With our "talent" we should belt them. But Easts proved tonight what hunger does to avoid successive poor efforts.

I think all bets are off for this match.

If we don’t have the hunger for this one, we never will.

By my reckoning a wound up eels will be in the wrestle for awhile, but hopefully be overcome.

A fresh Api, who should be in his best shape for ages will add a lot of nuance, eyes up, structure and guile to the attack. He is an entirely dominant player mentally and that’s key in these kinds of matches as the eels rebuild and Ryles sends talent to reserves to freshen up.

Boof is great, but so many times we see the smart players creating the opportunities that win matches.

Api will not want to play bridesmaid to Jerome. He’s just not built that way. They will fight for dominance in the side amongst themselves and push the envelope.

I’m really looking forward to the used panthers linking up and the likes of Hunt and Skelton. A big relief for Terrell with the family issues put to one side, he can focus.

We didn’t win last week, but it wasn’t our worst start either.

All Bula needs is a consistent performance. Position himself properly, take catches and run hard. Nothing tricky.

A win on the back of good games from all or most the players is sorely needed.
And hopefully Benji finally gets his ducks in a row. That is due as well. Even for his own sake, he needs a response.
