The business case is that a facility in an area that can be the hottest place on earth would cover more than 20% of fans and somewhat provide comfort to the disabled at the same time.

Penrith gets both f**king cold and f**king hot. I don't know why anyone would bring an outdoor event here with a similar size brand new stadium down the road in Parra and a monster stadium in Homebush with a covered arena next door to it.

I'd love to go to a new stadium but I don't think it'll happen.

It’s infrastructure, providing facilities and amenities for a growing population for generations to come.

The current stadium is simply not able to accomodate the anticipated growth the region will experience in the years ahead.

It is more than just 12 games, a multi purpose stadium and surrounds should be able to accomodate day to day activities year round not just across the football codes, concerts. I’m sure there was previous business plans which suggested increased patronage and attendance from fans who would travel from as far as Bathurst and other central west towns who currently don’t attend due to lack of facilities.

I think if the Federal/State Government came out and said we’re not going to fund the new stadium we are committing the money to raising the dam wall (warragamba) as a flood mitigation measure I would cop it, no question maybe that should or would be a greater priority. But that ain’t gonna happen because the extreme left won’t allow it to happen.

I don’t know about that mate, they may have to rely on the support of the greens to get into power and the far left don’t care one iota about stadiums.

As I suggest, if one or the other came to the table and said no stadium, we are going to spend our limited funds on raising the Warragamba Dam wall as a flood mitigation strategy well no one could argue against that.

Given raising the dam wall has been in the too hard basket as long as I have lived in the Nepean Blue Mountains area it ain’t ever gonna happen in my life time Sadly. Too many endangered frog species to allow such a critical piece of infrastructure.

Why would they play in Penrith not Parra?

They're on the same train line and as far as I'm aware the new one is going to St Mary's so no direct transport from the new suburbs being built.

Our new stadium can allow for big stadium concerts. It is all part of the overall stadium strategy. Why can’t the population of the greater west see the big stars at a stadium in Penrith as opposed to travelling to Accor Stadium. Don’t get caught up in a debate about why it shouldn’t be done, embrace why the growing population can enjoy the benefits of a new stadium without having to travel. We’re not just talking about Penrith/Nepean we are talking about the Central West, Camden, Hawkesbury regions here. A new 450 bed 4.5 star accomodation facility is under construction within the Panthers precinct. Embrace it, the ever expanding city of Penrith deserves it, and it will be a massive infrastructure project which will serve the city and region well. It will surely provide a massive return on its initial inestment.

I can understand a debate around priorities but at the same time I truly believe the City of Penrith and the wider communities are deserving of a new stadium. Not just a stadium but a world class functional facility for public use 365 days a years. If built on the larger Paceway site it could encompass parklands, restaurant and dining precincts . It is just a no brainer for the people of Western Sydney and beyond.

That is what they did with that new stadium in Vegas. They built no parking for fans. Obviously to get them into the casinos. The backlash has been huge.

It all depends on replacing parking with good game day public transport. Given this is prime land I don’t see them building a major car park, it’s just not cost effective. So let’s hope they put in some good game day bus routes.

Starting to think the paceway plan will be abandoned. Looks like the paceway are in negotiations with some developers for that site already, I don’t see the government matching that offer.

Perhaps an option would be a staged build of the new stadium at the current site? First build the eastern side, then move to the south and north before finally doing the west.

No, I don’t see this being cancelled. The government has already upset the NRL too much, plus the importance of the Penrith electorate. I’m very confident it happens, just a matter of which site.
