Parramatta halfback Tim Smith has been busted drinking less than a week after agreeing to abstain from alcohol and faces the sack from his NRL club.
Smith was fined $1,000 and issued a 12-month alcohol ban by the club last Friday for allegedly intimidating, swearing and making obscene finger gestures at a member of the public while intoxicated.
But the club is investigating new claims he was out drinking and club chief executive Denis Fitzgerald confirmed he will meet with the troubled player to discuss the situation.
"We will be having a meeting with Tim some time tomorrow," said Fitzgerald.
"We have a report that he has been drinking."
Sydney's Daily Telegraph is reporting that Smith had to be picked up from the Tollgate Hotel at North Parramatta however the licensee told wwos.com.au that Smith was not at the pub.
"We close up at 4.30am and open up at 10am," said Tolgate owner 'Robbie.'
"I was back here at 6am and he definitely wasn't here... He was not drinking here that's for sure."
