game could have been interesting at 26-16 with Tigers well in it and Dylan Brown just getting injured, then along comes Api with that stupid f**king tip tackle. The Queen milked it for all he was worth but i think he was going to be binned regardless.
Queen felt the contact and dove into the ground himself.

Yeah, I basically thought Gutherson did some of the heavy lifting in that tackle as well.

I guess as bad as it gets for us, we can content ourselves that we aren't Tigers fans. Widely known they haven't been to the finals for 13 years since that fateful loss to us, and now a hat trick of wooden spoons, but they've also only made to the finals twice in 19 years since they won the GF.

And they look light years off getting back there. They are absymal. Let's see how long Galvin wants to ride that ghost train for

I would be looking forward with some positivity if I was them. They debuted a truckload of really good talent this season that’s only going to get better, and for next year so far Luai, Turuva, Bird and Hunt are nice additions

Bula Galvin Luai and Koroisau is a pretty nice unit to build around

Yep, but in all honesty does Benji inspire any confidence??

Who knows really, not a lot to evaluate him on so far. Last year Ciraldo was hopeless and Webster was a god and this year that’s changed around. I quite liked a bit of what they were doing with the ball, but the personnel not quite there yet to execute

No idea, but I don't reckon great players make great coaches in any sport. Cleary would be the exception, but even he was a solid tradesman who got the most out of his ability, as opposed to a superstar as Benji was at the peak of his powers.

The issue with Benji is, like Webster, you'd have to question if he has the support to become great. He did a year (?) under Sheens, who was past his use-by date in how to coach in the modern-day game. He has John Morris, Heignington, Farah as assistants - all great players for the Tigers, but there's not a lot of coaching experience and chops there.

The Dogs really remind me of us last year - success built around momentum, a great attitude, solid defense and winning the close games. When you lose the close games, and momentum slides, the other two can drop off. The Dogs have the 11th best attack in the comp but near-on the best defense.

Actually, I now look and what I said around winning close games isn't true. Lost 5 games under a converted try, won 4 under a converted try.

Similar to us, though, in that they've won 3 games against top 8 teams but have a very strong record against sides outside the 8.

Geez, Galvin and Luai is a hell of a halves combo. And Koroisau is a jet, I have been genuinely surprised how well he's competed and been fired up all season to contribute to that side. Losing Stefano is a big loss though, as obviously Papali'i is. They desperately need some quality up front

Will wait till he has a better team before passing judgement on Benji. I don’t think they’ll get the spoon next year

Queen felt the contact and dove into the ground himself. Embarrassing, he should go and sit in front of Alex McKinnon and explain his act where he couldn’t decide which part to pretend was sore. He did the worst dive I’ve ever seen in general play just before the Fainu try as well

This Wallabies winger looks handy for the Chooks
well if thats the case, Api got 3-4 matches for something the Queen did.

Watching the defence of a lot of the sides finishing this weekend shows you why they aren’t there next week, some very weak tries being scored

Ciraldo and Webster (and Brennan, Rules, Fitzgibbon) all had histories of success in great structures…. Tbh nothing about the way Benji played screams “coach” to me, unlike Gould and even Stuart etc…. Snd nothing about anything he says suggests it either… like some others perhaps rep/ international but maybe not the grind of NRL

Looks like Dogs v Manly will be locked in for next week, tomorrow to determine the venue

Dogs 3/10 against top 8 sides (assuming they go on and lose this), 11/14 against bottom 9

Well, if there's a draw tomorrow then it'll be Canberra going through! It was a good win over the Dragons, coming back and showing some fight.

What might've been, ay?

Plus, what are the Cowboys doing? Dishing it out to Canterbury a week before the Dogs' first finals appearance in 10 years?

I'm wishing the Warriors were in the mix as anything can happen, it seems (bar Melbourne and Penrith, who are going to script).
