What's the story with Smith? He looks promising.
A fullback - and a very good one.
Set the schoolboy championships on fire last year apparently.
He played trials with the NSW cup side and did some wonderful things, but is a bit small for that grade just yet.
In the lower grades the thing that always stands out is the mouth on the kid. When he plays fullback it's like the Crusade is on the field - he shouts non stop all game - some of it just barracking.
Anyway - I think he is a better prospect than Simpson, but looks like he won't get a spot at fullback till next season.

I share your sentiments on Fairweather. Everytime he hit it up, I expected him to knock somebody over or get through - but he hits the line like a girl kicks a soccer ball.

He looks a lot like Kruise Wilson - but I never once mistook the two.

Tafaao sick.

The others dropped on 'discipline' in one of the most strict and ridiculous Club rules I have ever encountered.

Coaches blew up but 'Management' enforced it.

Edit - Best half of footy I have seen from our NYC all year.

These blokes are appalling.

How they can look each other in the eye at the end of a game is beyond me the way they commit to each other in defense.

If they've improved on the rabble from last year, its only just.

Because Serc, illness, or not, they go out to big leads and then can't tackle.

How can their defensive commitment even be defended by you?!

Its 6 weeks of crap committment. And to be honest Alomai is one of their worst offenders. You might not see it on TV, but do yourself a favour at a game sometime. Sit back and watch how lazy he really is after he does his couple if hit ups.

Find where I have denied that they are one of the worst teams in defence in the comp and then we can get started.

I felt they deserved credit where credit was due yesterday given the circumstances (and their opposition).

Yes I know Josh is one of the worst, I've seen him on TV and live at the game ;-)

Serc the Cowboys were toying with us. They were trying out players in different positions constantly rotated throughout the game! The wingers were rotating into the centres, and to fullback, and halfway through the game their no.5 ended up playing halfback. And then their pint sized winger in No.22 played halfback.

It was a glorified training run for them.

Their commitment in general is just so poor. Defensive based or not. And that cannot be given a free pass every week and commended.

So they might have been toying with us - but I find it a little unlikely given how close the score was right until the end of the game. I don't think they would've risked a game just to try out some stuff. Or do you think they have another Rohan Smith as coach doing random things?

Geez - I don't knock what you say Serc as you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am.

I know that...was just a little frustrating that you guys seemed to ignore some of the circumstances surrounding yesterday was all.

My comments are based on the year , not yesterday. Yesterday was just the boiling point because some fans go there early to watch the games to support them ( yes SUPPORT them ) only to see them dish up more of the same.

Their performance against Souths was worse, way, way worse. That was inexcusable.

In 2 weeks they've led 22-0 ( and lost 48-30something ) and again, led 16-6 at halftime yesterday and lost the second half 30-6 to lose 36-22.

So lets forget just yesterday for a minute. But the fact supporters who took time out of their day to go and support them in person was subject to yet another abysmal second half showing, is just a bit hard to take.

Irrespective of the circumstances, it is the same story each week. Last week they led 22-0 for gods sake and still got belted.

Every team have "their circumstances" and they need to deal with it and not use it as an excuse!

For the record, the Cowboys had 2 of their best players out yesterday and they "dealt" with it.

Anyway, thought I would dig up some stats from yesterday, and only the positives because our deficiencies have been well covered :p

N Simpson 153m (15 runs)
Wilson 117m (12 runs, 10 hitups for 89m)
Cook 107m (15 runs)
Mason 101m (12 runs)

Cordner had 8 hitups for 68m as well (only mentioned him as he seemed to stand out a little in the second half with some good carries)

Redman made 41 tackles with 0 missed, sensational! (how old is this guy again? 17 or something?)
Ailaomai oddly enough made 14 tackles and missed none.
Cordner made 24 and missed 2.

Tackle breaks
N Simpson 7
Smith 4
Tetavano 3
Fairweather 3

2 offloads for Roberts

2 line breaks for Smith

It seems our most consistent players are Ethan Cook and Chad Redman. Both are 17.

Dunno if that's a good thinmg or a bad thing, tbh...

Yeah, but the Cowboys are the best in the comp (so far at least), do you see Saints or Storm losing many in the NRL when they lose one or two of their best? Our NYC are (apprarently) a joke of a team, with things against us this week and hung with the #1 team in the comp for a good 70 minutes.

I reckon we're all just going around in circles so I might just leave it there.

Ethan Cook is the one bloke who can hold his head high most weeks.

He has plenty of ability. He should develop into a first grader by the age of 19 easily - if not earlier.

He is physically advanced for his age, and he has ball playing skills for a forward which remind me of a young Greg Bird actually.

The Saints and Storm in the NRL usually don't let leads go by losing second halves by 30+ points with inept defense - with or without their best players.
