3 weeks ago cody walker was a legend who was the only player worth keeping. 2 rounds of bad performances ( in part to being played out of position) and public contract problems and people are cheering on the club to release him. This is part of the problem.

Moments after the grand final Russell Crowe was interviewed on the field. When asked how he felt he said 'this is the first of many'. While it seemed great at the time, it was an incredibly arrogant thing to say. No team has formed a dynasty in the modern nrl era, even the teams that have come closest, Melbourne and Manly went through lean years between premierships/gf's. When those teams got knocked out in the 1st week off the finals they didn't fall apart. Contrast that to our 2015 season. At the end of 2015 we called the season Mediocre, a disaster, we panicked, we needed drastic change. We had gone from only qualifying for the finals once in a quater of a century to calling a finals appearance a disaster. We had become incredibly arrogrant. When you factor in the loss of key players from 2014, general grand final hangover that has effected every premiership team of the last 20 years and a few bad injuries, 2015 was not that bad of a year. But we panicked and called it a disaster, and that's when the quick fixes came in. First it was get sam at all costs. When stewart left, and isaac as well, it was rumoured we were chasing Marty tapua and Robbie farah as replacements. It was also reported thats despite the problems he was having Dylan walker would stay at the club. Then Sam became available. The plan to get tapua and farah was shelved, walkers problems were put on the back burner. I still believe that if the burgess negotiations weren't happening at the time that we could have kept Walker. Burgess was going to be a quick fix to the supposed disaster of 2015. Instead of replacing 2 players we lost in 2015, plus keeping walker, we also paid 2 players with origin experience to play at other clubs. That's been the biggest quick fix but there has been others. Neither Grant or Stewart were bad for us. Grant wasn't good but he was still useful. With a second season he could have been better. Stewart was good, until his public exit. But so many will now say they were a disaster. As soon as young players face some troubles they have to go. Walker is a big example. People are crying for us to get him back. Those very same people were the quickest to say 'he has to go'. He's not the only young player we've ditched at the 1st bit of trouble, or when they haven't quite developed as quick as we hoped. Keary, Mcinnes, Grevsmuhl, Peats amongst others. Roosters had problems with JWH, Friend and Pearce when they were younger but they worked through them. In a similar position we just moved them on straight away.We have a certain dope in here continually compare our roster to the Broncos, but when the broncos were going through their lean years many broncos fans were calling for guys like Hunt, McCullough and mcguire to be moved on becuase they were young duds that don't match up with other teams players. In a similar situation we are moving on young duds like mcinnes and keary. When storm lost slater for 2 years to injury, Roosters had so many injury problems with cordner the club stuck solid. So many in here want Inglis gone straight away. Reynolds hasn't had the best month, he has to be moved on now. We are always after the quick fix. Its like quicksand, the more we try to fight our way up the quicker we are sinking deeper. I said last year after we dropped out of finals contention that it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Many scoffed at that because the quick fix was just around the corner. Get rid of Mcturte and keary and things will change, Rochow and cherrington were the greatest Signings ever and will relegate our so called duds out of the team. The so called duds turner and clark are 2 of the players playing most to their limit yet they must go to. That'll be another genius quick fix. Sign asiata or Ofenhaugie because they played ok in the last 2 weeks. Another quick fix. Keary is playing great, but people in here are saying it's only because he plays behind a fun forward pack. Yet reynolds has struggled in the last month behind an easily month behind a welk dominated pack and he must be moved on. Another quick fix. Sign cronk for a year and make him coach, Another quick fix. Sack maguire mid season with no thought on a replacement, Another quick fix. The bad thing is that our club managent is just as bi-polar as some of the regulars in here.

I honestly can't believe you brought up keary. Paying 700k+ for him was not moving forward. The whole 2015 season he disappeared. Was just the same in 2016 maybe even worse.

I don't understand what your point is here. Would you have kept every single player we've let go? We have serious cap problems and that is because everyone in the squad after 2014 was given significant upgrades. Our salary cap was and still is a mess so releasing a lot of the players that we did wasn't really a discussion.

Whilst I don't agree with the people that you refer to on here I think it's in plain sight that our squad has a problem. Since we have little depth most of our players know that their positions are "safe". It seems as if this has resulted in a serious attitude problem from most of our players. Everyone on here can see that we need change it's just the variance in changes that are different. My question to you is if we don't recruit Cronk or Maloney, where the f**k do we go from here? I rate most of our forwards including TURNER but our halves and backs aren't putting points on the board?

I'm saying that we are always after a quick fix. Any suggestion of getting rid of Adam Reynolds is ridiculous. He was great for the first 5 seasons of his first grade career. Yet after 1 month of football he must be dumped. For cronk who will have one year at best. Why not work on making Reynolds the player we know he is rather then dump him at first chance. Keary is a good player. If we weren't so bull headed we might have been and to negotuate that 700k down. Instead at first sign of any friction a player must go. Roosters are getting full 700k value out of keary. Last year Mcinnes was the sole problem for our forward pack struggling to get forward. So getting rid of him was the quick fix. We still have the problem of forwards struggling to get go forward, while mcinnes is going gangbusters at the dragons, funnily enough a club that struggled with go forward last year. We are quick to discard players at the first point of problems instead of trying to overcome those problems. Now people are hoping we get rid of walker for asking for a raise. We seem to focus on one issue, go for the quick fix, when that doesn't work (and in many cases things get worse) we focus all our attention on the next issue and try to quick fix that.

Turner is deteriorating.

I don't rate him at all.

He got his contract renewal too quickly.

He isn't putting in.

A few of my mates don't think he's tough enough and I tend to agree.

He seems scared to run the ball!!!!!

And not once has he performed like that at club level. Plus wing is his best position. Keep trying to fool yourselves into thinking he's a good signing though.

I don't think I've read anyone on here actually wants to get rid of walker though. It's becoming more and more likely like he's wanting to leave. Cronk or Maloney would be a great replacement for Walker. Nobody wants to boot AR they're just saying that maybe he should be dropped according to form which would wake him up. The fact is that both keary and mcinnes have improved significantly since leaving Souths because keary didn't even look interested most of the time at Souths. I don't know whether there's a financial, coaching or player problem but a lot of our players look disinterested. How do you fix that problem? Do you persist with disinterested players and get the spoon for the next few years or do you clean out those players that don't wanna be there? Start fresh?

A lot of our players got contract renewals too early not just turner. It makes you think that maybe we only went on that winning streak at the end of last year because players had an incentive to play for a contract?

It partly comes down to attitude and hunger!!!!!!

Yes we want to keep Cody. But don't want to pay him overs. It's Cody that seems to be sooking about his contract and hasn't been putting in. His attitude needs to change too!!!!

Hopefully we go better in 2019 when some of the young guys like Fuimaono and Musgrove have really improved!!!!!

Our recruitment has to start getting better and that starts with hopefully getting a bit better in 2018. Gagai is a start but we need another good signing!!!!!

If GI goes that'll give us lots of money!!!!!!
