He played really well. Kicked well, ran well, tackled really well and bagged a couple try assists. Take what you want from it.

Luai played the Nathan role. 600m kicking included so if you look at wanting to get a 6. Cole's numbers stack up.
4 kicks. 2 of them led to tries. His own one included in that
12 runs means he created doubt in the defence.

most important 23 tackles. 0 misses on our right side that has been our weak side defensively all year.

Hopefully he was just cramping not having an injured hammy. A month more of starting in 6 is perfect for his development

Yep he’s got to keep doing it but he’s a short price favourite to be the 6 next year. Club has rated him highly for a couple years now. 2022 went from sgball to fg debut. It’s going to take more than Schneider had shown so far to take the 6 off him next year, it’s certainly possible but not the most likely outcome at this stage imo

We often wait to sign kids for the next year. Hence why we have lost plenty during this run.

The fact we went for 4 years shows he is rated highly. Although he could make an impact from centre BUT we have lost a chance in SG Ball and now NSW Cup is feeling it fast tracking McLean.

Seems we are looking long term at

Edwards/Edgar
McLean

Tago
To'o/????
Cole

I know he's a kid so it's ok but he need to kick last week

Sure but that was his first ever start, he got worked over defensively with 38 tackles and basically the whole side played shit. You can’t just judge him off that alone.

Last night we learned that when the team plays well he can do the job. Plenty left to learn about him no doubt but we saw plenty of good signs last night.

Well $1.3 Million a season Luai turned up yesterday after a good (but incomplete) showing against the Warriors.

Up until then, I'd have said this is his worst (full time) season with us and was laughing at the Tigers for signing him, especially as a halfback.

In saying that, he still isn't worth that money to us with Nathan still in the team. That is why I am fine with Cole looking forward. He isn't flashy, doesn't have the sexy passes or tricks but in this Ivan coached, defence & Grit style team - he does his job and I am sure more of his skill will come out and develop as he gains more game time and confidence.
