Peachey not being here next year is a huge factor also he needs to stop running sideways.

As for Luai it's been explained he's sub par in reserves but stepped up.

Luai has been sub par? Explained by who, the League Unlimited Panthers Forum Selection panel of yourself, MX and Franklin. Luai being sub par is just rubbish and you form that opinion of watching the odd NSW Cup game, or highlight reels occasionally or on the opinions of others who haven't probably watched him at all over the last two or three seasons.

As for Peachy, four errors in two games, he's leaving anyway so that's enough to disregard the fact he has been very good this season and justifies his being banished to the reserves?

Anthony Griffin is not the messiah but thank god he get's to pick our side each week.

Defencive much. I formed my opinion based on what games I saw him play. May was much better. Luai stepped up and good on him since I'm a fan. The only person I really pay attention to when it comes to young blokes is Franklin so nice try.

The first thing that needs to be said is he is a quality player and on his day a match winner so a spot has to be found for him in the side.

I never profess to the coach , but if I was, since you asked the question he takes Wade Egans spot on the bench for the remainder of this season. After this week Whare/Blake centres. Laui to fullback until DWZ returns. Not ideal but he has played enough of the position to do the job and has the x factor similar to Ponga. May is the one who unfortunately misses out but of course more injuries can soon change everything.

You are right about Peachey when he's on but what do you do about Katoa not being an 80 minute player. Peachey isn't exactly providing great service consistently if it's needed as he's a dangerous runner not passer.

I don't really disagree with that, except I'd swap May for Peachey (but I don't think for one minute that will happen). As you said selection changes proposed by any of us are moot, injuries make the final choices for us.

I personally don't like Peachey at dummy half, and if he isn't in the centres and isn't in the second row, I'm struggling to see where he fits. I've been a huge fan of his (and still am), but since he's leaving I'd be using this time to give May as much experience as possible.

Katoa comes off at the 60 minute mark. Most of our games will most likely be decided by that time one way or the other.

Peachy offers utility value throughout the entire 80 minutes should an injury arise to one of the halves or outside backs.

If a game is in the balance when Katoa does have to come off then even allowing for the fact his distribution may not be perfect out of dummy half he still offers a real threat with his running out of dummy half and put the defence in two minds. .

All the NSW Cup highlights are on the website. Feel free to point out a game we he played that well? NYC he tore up like that but not in NSW Cup

It's not much of a threat when it is known he won't pass the ball

Luai was great behind the platform & momentum the forwards set. He is a great talent no doubt but May can create plays when there isn't that service provided as can be seen since his return in Cup.
That is the deference i believe if you have following Reserve grade.
Also defensively is sound having come second in the tackle count in the Warriors game with there huge pack running at him. Maloney would of being a turnstile against there big boys.

Well in the first instance it is much better to watch an entire game at the ground and see a full 80 minutes of football rather than a highlights reel.

I talked up Jarome Laui before we signed James Maloney. I have talked him up as a viable option for us during this season and again before the game against the Warriors. My opinions based on what I have seen in person don't need to refer to highlights reels.

I don't think for one minute he will do what he did against the Warriors week in week out but as I have said repeatedly he offers an x factor, not dissimilar to the likes of Preston Campbell with the added bonus of a very effective left footed kicking game.

You talked him down while I was talking up him up.

The parallel between Jarome Luai and Tyrone May is worth pointing out.

Last season, it could have been argued Tyrone May was not travelling too well in NSW Cup. His was stagnating and maybe not standing out in the lesser grade like he should have been.

All of sudden Matt Moylan got injured and only for the interference of otherwise of Phil Gould Tyrone May got the call up. Griffin would not have selected him but for Gould's suggestion (for want of a better term) and as we saw Tyrone May stepped up and was very good until he sustained his ACL injury.

So on the one hand I understand what has been said about Jarome Laui but in my opinion I had seen enough even this season to believe he had NRL written all over him.

It isn't widely known but Griffin actually selected May to debut before Cleary but he picked up an injury playing Cup the week before and the rest is history

Interesting.

My memory is fading in old age, but do vividly remember watching Nathan Cleary coming off the bench as a hooker in Harold Matts thinking he was only getting a start because of his father. I guess that destroys my credentials as a talent scout.
