Wasn't in the halves but off the bench mind you
Talking talent scouts there was one kid who fell through the cracks I believe would of being a superstar.
Tarshay Duffy played with the Minchinbury Jets same team as Robert Jennings,May,Sonny Hala(another freak)played fullback and had it all.

Luai was great behind the platform & momentum the forwards set. He is a great talent no doubt but May can create plays when there isn't that service provided as can be seen since his return in Cup.
That is the deference i believe if you have following Reserve grade.
Also defensively is sound having come second in the tackle count in the Warriors game with there huge pack running at him. Maloney would of being a turnstile against there big boys.

May was on the bench the week before he got his start last year. Maybe he was told to work on defence so was too tired to be flashy. Maybe because there was nothing to lose in FG he went for it.

Bottom line he wasn't demanding to be selected on NSW Cup form. Got his chance and went well let's hope he kicks on

Well in the first instance it is much better to watch an entire game at the ground and see a full 80 minutes of football rather than a highlights reel.

I talked up Jarome Laui before we signed James Maloney. I have talked him up as a viable option for us during this season and again before the game against the Warriors. My opinions based on what I have seen in person don't need to refer to highlights reels.

I don't think for one minute he will do what he did against the Warriors week in week out but as I have said repeatedly he offers an x factor, not dissimilar to the likes of Preston Campbell with the added bonus of a very effective left footed kicking game.

You talked him down while I was talking up him up.

I have watched 10 NSW Cup games live this year so I see plenty... There was a game at St Marys he played very well. Outside of that nothing that really stood out like it did last year

Ahhh yes someone is a gun junior so certainly means they will kick on.

Maloney was bought for a purpose no uncapped half can bring those same traits in

I respect your opinions and knowledge of the game. I have no issue with that.

What I don't agree with is talking down our players either established or rookies when it is ill informed.

In the lead up to the Warriors game we were talking down Jarome Laui, DWZ and heaven knows some were even talking up playing Wade Egan in the number 7. The latest to uncur to wrath of the keyboard warriors on here is Tyrone Peachy who during the origin period hasn't been playing to his normal high standards and is no longer worthy of a position in our top 17.

I know we have to talk about something, converstations need to be generated and opinions expressed but seriously we are very quick to be critical despite the fact we have enjoyed a decent season under very trying circumstances.

Peachey not being here next year is a huge factor also he needs to stop running sideways.

Was it me last year who made the silly suggesttion we make the sideline the tryline so Peachy could score more tries?

As far as Luai is concerned, the judges are out until he crops together a few consistantly sound games together.

The advantage a gun player has on debut is that the opposition had never seen him before. If he plays next week,I assume at fullback,he'll be a marked man. Who knows,he just might play the same role as Moylan did when he switched to 5/8 during set plays.

Is it talking down? We can't have everyone play on game day. We don't have a bad player in our squad so good players are going to miss out.

Its an interesting conundrum who plays fullback this week.
One thing that laui showed us is that we should trust the players coming through in their correct positions.
I thought he deserved a shot after Cleary was injured, it’s the same situation this week. Aekins is next in line and deserves a chance.

In saying that I seriously did have a dream last night of waqa the wonderfull at fullback scoring the match winning try after a dodgy Moylan kick on our 20.

I think Waqa would carve up fullback but it won't happen.

The fact we had to play a hooker on debut and short week was what cost Luai early on. We kept winning so changing would of been harder.

Luai was on standby for Edwards in the finals last year. So technically he'd be next. A good game from Aekins will make it interesting next week

Would be interesting but I don't want the Blake/Kikau combo being messed with. The more they play together the better they will get

So did I.

Players form goes up and down. Commenting on that isn't talking them down.

Interesting.

My memory is fading in old age, but do vividly remember watching Nathan Cleary coming off the bench as a hooker in Harold Matts thinking he was only getting a start because of his father. I guess that destroys my credentials as a talent scout.

We keep getting told he was never a stand out individual type so it's not a surprise anyone would think that.

On the game in general we all seem to have different views on what should happen and who should play where but I think the most important thing is that whatever team is picked needs to have a full week at training together. That's our best chance of winning.

Injuries too. If Wallace was stil hooker then the need for a 14 that can play hooker isn't as high.

Same with Edwards if is here still than FB is sorted. DWZ started well but like the rest of the team fell away over the last month. Which brings up questions of who too play there

I have no issue with that generalisation. However, on the back of our fortunate win against the Raiders and subsequent losses Dallin's position at fullback was being questioned despite the fact he had for the most part been great for us since the injury to Dylan Edwards. When everything is travelling along fine and dandy we are only to happy to talk everything up but the minutes things don't go as we would like we are far to quick to criticise and the example of DWZ is a perfect case in point.

We are pushing for to win the comp DWZ is an injury replacement. If a better option comes up should we not take it because he played well a month ago?

People have gone off DWZ? I really like him at FB. I just suggested he go back to the wing when back in 3 weeks so we have the benifit of DWZ/Mansour/Luai in the same team. I think its well balanced, It's not because I dislike him.

He was terrific against Warriors too. They tried smashing him and he just kept on showing up for more punishment.

I was waiting for him to start a fight after being slammed into the ground with a bit of a dog tackle and he surprisingly ignored it. Seems to be maturing

Kept with the long passes though. No Idea what is the fascination with throwing them twice we found a forward after an offload up the middle. That should be the fullback instead of trying to ball play

Our wingers are the best in the comp simple not liking one of them at FB becuase we lack the start to our sets isn't disliking him
