So the dogs can't afford woods and he may go back to the tigers. Wonder if they still need to offload anyone else.

All the article seems to say is the Tigers are keen to keep him if they choose to let him go. I reckon the Dogs would be keen to shed others before him.

If the Dogs are not Salary Cap compliant (by a large margin if it potentially means letting go of Woods and/or Foran) then why has the NRL allowed them to sign these players?

Or does the NRL not offical register contracts until Nov 1?

It has created an uneven playing field if they have to backflip, as Those two players signing with the Dogs has had a massive influence on the playing market. The Tigers have had to try and fill the void, and could have potentially overpaid on Mataulino/Packer as they were desperate to replace Woods up front.

I did read something about if you can't get yourself under the cap by a certain day you have to start shedding the most recent signings first.

As a business, they took on the risk and went for it. What the Tigers did afters is no concern for the Dogs.

Paul Kent tonight on NRL 360 said 11 clubs are over the cap for next year and will need to shed players. We stand to be the big winners out of all of this.

I just dont get that looking across the squads of the 16 clubs. Based on media reports, signings and talent ir could surely only be current top 8 minus Parra and Manly plus Dogs and maybe Penrith.

I cannot believe the nrl will ever dare chase down Melbourne, Easts or the Broncos even if they were over.

Did Kent name the clubs?

Of course its of no concern to the Dogs, but it should be of concern to the NRL.

The Dogs have illegally (or by way of a loophole) influenced the player market by signing Foran/Woods to massive contracts. This has meant clubs have missed out on these players, or had to sign other players to artificially inflated contracts as a result. E.g. the knights could have been Foran's 2nd choice but we could have been beaten due to the Dogs spending money they had no right to spend without shedding other players first.

Mind you the NRL are part to blame as the Bulldogs didn't have an exact cap figure to work to.

I can see this situation getting ugly, especially if 11 clubs are over the cap, some by a large amount. What if the teams like us under the cap don't have enough room in the cap to offset all the clubs over it? are other players going to need to take paycuts to balance it out and fit them in, or are they going to be lost to Union/ESL?

Only club he named was Bulldogs, which everyone already knows obviously.

I find it difficult to believe 11 clubs are over. If true, you'd have to think many would be 'over' by only a small amount.

Really can't see any clubs other than Canterbury having to fix a mess up. You'd think all the Syd clubs would be pretty sweet now, maybe Cronulla are feeling the pinch?? Forget Brissy and Mlb. GC not an issue. NQLD??? Warriors lol. Canberra may have over spent??

I personally think the Sharks may struggle. You would think they would have based some of the upgrades to their younger players on the fact that Gallen would retire.

Lost Bird but signed Dugan for similar amount. Also lost Barba from GF team.

Agree. The talk was that Gallen and Lewis would retire but they've both re-signed. Barba wasn't taking much of their cap from memory. Possibly why they are unwilling to budge on upgrading Maloney.

All getting a bit excited about salary caps, players being offloaded but nothing confirmed, does anyone really know club situation, salaries paid or is it just hearsay, I will sit back and wait, season will end and then it will happen, hopefully we profit from it.

Reports that Heath Gibbs has signed with the Tigers. A little disappointing as he was one player Brown talked up in a recent presser as someone they had their eye on for FG on the next few years.

Guessing the Tigs threw some cash at him and we were not prepared to match.
