He seems to happy as assistant and waiting his chance. He is only 52 so he has time on his side. He might interim but taking over the club may be a little early. He seems intent on making the right call for a career over here. That is why I like him. Despite his obvious credentials he knows it is a different level here. The bullet had to be bitten last year.
I feel sorry for Brian McDermott who will take over within a couple of months and he has to work with what AOB created here and it's going to be a shit start to his NRL head coaching career because he hasn't had the chance to stamp his style on us in an off-season. Be interesting to see if we give him the reigns heading into next season too.
We will be classic Newcastle and wait till it is mathematically possible to make the finals before we sack him.
That says more about wests being cheap than aob knowing what he's doing.
Mr Consistent would be more accurate. Consistently does sweet f**k all when in the centres. When talking about Enari being named at centre, AOB called him "Mr Reliable"
I thought that was Mann's nickname! When talking about Enari being named at centre, AOB called him "Mr Reliable"
They’re both decent enough players when picked in the right position. Unfortunately Obi (even though he’s single handedly won 4 comps) can’t grasp this fact.I thought that was Mann's nickname!
How many do we have and why are they shit?
Bollocks. The 2 journo’s who know best - Barry Toohey and Max McKinney - reckon Wests have no appetite to sack him, and he has the year to get it right. In their podcast today.
Long year for the naysayers…
He made the finals twice before the CEO released his halfback without a replacement just before last season. There is an argument that he’s nowhere near as bad as the News Limited media makes him out to be.Unless Wests have expectations of a bottom 4 finish, I don’t see how AOB sees out the season if we are down the bottom and have our selves a few blowouts and a solid losing streak.
They have to pull the plug early or else we’ll have another off season where we’re trying to solve problems quickly rather than making an actual plan and giving ourselves time to execute.
There’s definitely truth to that but at the same time I don’t think our roster has improved under AOB in both in recruitment and development. He made the finals twice before the CEO released his halfback without a replacement just before last season. There is an argument that he’s nowhere near as bad as the News Limited media makes him out to be.
At some point the players need to take some responsibility for not having a go when the game gets tough. We’ve had the nice guy coach that didn’t work. We have the tough coach that apparently isn’t working. Perhaps it isn’t the coach and it’s the culture ingrained in the club that nobody seems to be able to change?
