Team v Dolphins

Were we any good this year without him? I don't recall so.

Certainly not as good in any game he missed. Some of it is murky because there were multiple players out with Tohu at the same time.

But he is the lynch pin of the forwards short passing game, the glue in the whole teams defence and the most consistent attacking forward in the side.

Expect we will run it like a trial, key players like TMM, Walker, Barnett will not finish the game.

Also expect the Dolphins to have a big finish to their season and put forty or fifty on us.

I am ok with that, all in the name of a good cause.

Yep. The result really doesn’t matter in this one. It’s all about testing combos and protecting from injuries.

I Can see melbourne beating the Broncos. Both teams are running out squads full of reserve graders, but Melbournes look better.

We will lose this game. Too many outs. Which would mean

1 Panthers
2 Broncos
3 Storm
4 Warriors

If thats the case hopefully our rested players are more in tune than the Panthers unrested players. Either way, whoever we play we will have to cause an upset in week 1.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I'm actually kinda excited to see how this lineup goes. Will be a really good indicator of how strong the systems Webster has put in place are. If the Dolphins put 40 or 50 on us I'll be surprised (and disappointed)

In some ways, it'll be a good read as to how we are really progressing as a club- not just as a team.

Excited to see Kosi and Martin

Broncos and Storm resting players too. Panthers not.
Panthers have been resting players through out the late end of the year. Nathan was out with an injury for a good part as well. Poor Cowboys hoped they where going to play a weaker side.

Hard to say who you would prefer to play out of Bronocos and Panthers.
Luai out gives them a small chink in their armour, but they seem to have great systems in place for next man to step up and it's the Friday night game so a shorter turnaround with back to back flights across the Tasman.

Broncos had been flying high and beat us with an origin depleted team at home essentially, but suncorp can be a home away from home for us and I'm not sure how they come out of byes with all the players they are resting.

I want the Panthers with a play maker is out.

From a purely selfish perspective it kinda messes with my weekend not having a Warriors game to get excited about (in that it's hard to get excited when the club clearly don't care much about the result).

I'm hoping for a gutsy win as I feel like a flogging will be a bummer going into the finals even if it doesn't matter. The template in my mind is the last round of 2002 when we basically conceded the minor premiership to Newcastle and went in to our last round game against the Tigers with a B-team, somehow managed to win, and stole the minor premiership because Newcastle lost.

I don’t mind it in that respect. The game is basically a dead rubber regardless of who plays so I’ll enjoy the extra interest of seeing the backup guys get a start in the top grade with something to prove.

Yeah it is nice to hear that two boys from the extended bench have been given the nod to come into the 17, Kalani Going and Paul Roache.

Both have been good but Going has been a standout in cup.

It will be really interesting to see who gets pulled off the field and put on ice for the finals with alll these halves and hooker options coming into the side from the Cup team.

Going is a very good defender, it will be really cool to see how he handles the step up in terms of the defence of the NRL, He is also a handy attacking forward too. Kind of made to replace Walker in that Dolphins game really.

Also good to hear Webster announce Tohu Harris will be good to go round one of the finals....the back is coming along well....he trained today.

I should have said Roache is also a strong defender in Cup and has some attack in him too.

Both thoroughly deserved.
