Yes, but there is a difference between deliberately negatively affecting another sport and incidentally doing it. Any sport that makes moves to increase its market share is doing so at the cost of others. I'm not sure how you can compare this to the deliberate acts that have been committed by RU over the last 100 or so years.

Why did the ban on RU players who wanted to try their hand at league exist yet they were quite happy if union players wanted to play any other professional sport?

Further to this, French Rugby Union players who converted to League pre WWII, were accepted back to Union after the war ended.

I remember very well a number of union kids having to be named "an other" in the programme when they trialled for my club just so they could remain anonymous to be able to return to their union clubs if it didn't work out.

People are implying here very strongly that league is pure.

I raised two events that actually happened, and people went about trying to find ways of explaining how the blatant acts weren't what they actually were.

I know what Union has done, but for anyone to sit in here and rightly hate on Union but completely deny League has done any wrongdoing is utterly stupid, especially when facts have been presented to prove League's wrongdoing.

You mob of thickheads need to realise that "yes, ok, we understand and admit, that league was done wrongs to Union"

It's part of making rational arguments. You won't be admitting to Union being the poor code that League has raped and pillaged. You'll be admitting that League isn't so innocent either. You won't be saying League is as bad as Union, You'll be saying, that league isn't so innocent either.

Your are a dumb pommy shit. FFS, rugby union was not played in Catholic Diocese Schools after rugby league was accepted as the rugby code to be played.

No-one is saying Union is in the right, but accept the fact League is not pure.

As I said before, people are arguing against the FACTS i posted that showed league has wronged Union.

We are clear when those who keep arguing with FACTS admit that League has wronged Union.

I've had some dickhead label me as an Union apologist for simply trying to educate them that League is not as pure and innocent as they think it is. If that point was understood, then I would not have been called a f**king apologist for that boring f**king game.

1 thing to remember in the book, the RFL didn't want to touch France at all unless the players themselves made their own mind up to play RL. A few attempts were made before 1934, but the English fella (fallowfield or something) was genuine when he said no, Rugby League will not make the first move. As has been stated, RL has pillaged Union from times, but it has never been to weaken Union, it was to strengthen a position in the RL team, that's why you don't see the ARL, NZRL, FFR13, RFL or any other national body sign up union players, it's left to the individual clubs, and fair enough in that regard I say.

I do get cranky when you read the RFU site and in their crap they have money put away just to sign League players, that's wrong on a whole different level.

The RFL were tentative about French Union players coming to league due to the abysmally violent style they played & their blatant disregard of Rugby Unions on field ethics & sportsmanship. There had a death or two in French RU due to their violent style. The IRB kicked them out of international competition which saw Shamateurism run rife through French RU.

Russian Ministry of Sports order number 21 dated January 20, 2010 expelled the Rugby League from the State Register of Sports of Russia.[3]

Probably because RU went into the Olympics with Sevens and Russia being an Olympic orientated country wanted to focus the (limited) resources there.
