Fine in defence? What f**ken game are you guys watching

He's getting run over in defence including the Cooper try. First half he was heavily targeted

His defence has not been great. His attack doesn't look as smooth as when he injects from fullback. But doesn't really matter as Hook doesn't rate him as a 5/8th anyway.

I thought he did some good things in attack, looks pretty natural

But yeah he's a major target in defence

It was his defense that worried me. He is a great ball player etc, but he just lacks the physical strength. In saying that though, SOO is the cauldron...

He did alright defensively he would need to improve but that would come. Cooper is running over most halves one on one ithat situation not many halves are tall enough to wrap up the ball on him, besides that he was heavily targeted and handled it well imo.

I think he did really well in attack, created a couple line breaks and generally looked dangerous in that 2nd half.

His defence was good, yes cooper got over him but honestly he defended as well as any half, hunt or Milford would not have stopped that try nor would have 80% of the halves in the comp. That was state of origin and he more than held his own, you guy's are harsh critics if you hate on that performance. Griffin the choice is clear.

Jennings did also run over thurston & cronk to win tonight.

Moylan's defence was fine IMO, he stopped GI a few times and was good at holding the play up (like melbourne do), that would be handy for us as we seem to let the opposition dictate the speed the whole game....

Plenty of quality halves have struggled in defence , non issue if there's genuine quality about the player.

I just can't get on board two rookie halves , Cleary & Moylan as our halves makes so much sense to me. Particularly given we have so many fullback options.

Two rookie halves is a recipe for another building season next year , that doesn't mean Moylan will guarantee success but I do believe it's our best option.

I guess Thurston and Cronk should be moved from the halves... they missed Jennings 2 on 1 at the end.

Moylan did well defensively. Yes he was beaten in a tackle... but he was one on one by a much bigger guy and he was just out muscled. Jennings beat two halves that were similar sized to him in a 2 on 1 against him situation. Those 2 halves are regarded as the best halves in the game. They couldnt tackle a tiny centre.

He receives a pass at the highest level pretty much. He would only get better with experience in that position. No way you can use this game to rule him.out of playi g in the halves. If so games 1 and 2 would rule him out of fullback and hes not playing whatsoever for us. This was arguably his best Origin game.

I thought Moylan was very good tonight. Did next to nothing wrong and created 2 line breaks that I counted. Did well enough defensively. Very few halves would have stopped Cooper from there.

If he doesn't start 5/8 on Sunday that'll do me.

But but but our squad is packed with halves and we have no fullback options if we move Matty

I have a gut feeling Moylan might play well tonight. He has nothing to lose and everything to prove.
I thought Moylan did a great job at origin level, so wtf is Griffen thinking when he won't give the lad a go at NRL level. Gymp.

Jennings isn't exactly tiny. He is 5'10" and a brick shithouse. He would run over a lot of nrl forwards. I wish we still had him.

Anything that increases the chances of Will Smith playing first grade should be done

But in all seriousness the guy done all right considering it was his first time at 5/8th and in origin to boot.

Suspect it could largely be a case of Griffin having dug his heals in , can't lose face now and be proven wrong.
I've been in and around RL for 40 years as a player and administrator and can't believe it has taken an origin game to put the nail in the coffin. Moylan must wear the 6 for the riff.

If it's the job of an 85kg fullback playing half to stop a 108kg forward on the charge, it's easy to see why NSW lose every year. Someone in the NSW pack has failed in their job if it's left to Moylan to tackle Gavin Cooper on the line.
