Warriors play hardball with Shaun Johnson

No, I see your point but I don't agree.
SJ has improved his tackling in the last three years, but that's it. The rest of his game has gone backwards.
I think, if he is serious about getting better, he should go and play for a Bellamy or a Bennett or one of the other gun coaches at another club. Change of scenery and culture.

A line from this article bout Lino caught my eye:

"Here at the Knights, they've taught me a lot of things that I didn't know about and I've really taken that on board"

Like what?
Always concerns me when i see stories like this from ex Warriors when they move to aussie clubs. What are they teaching them that the Warriors coaching staff arent teaching our players?

I find this amusing "When I spoke to Browny (Knights coach, Nathan Brown), he said he could help me improve as a half and that's the main goal for me."

Can't think of a half who has improved at the Knights lately.. Pearce has been good but no improvement, Watson has gone backwards, Lamb and Cogger showed basically no progression at all. Classic new job talk to me, everything is rosey and the grass is greener early on etc.

I suspect it's just a standard PR spiel - like when tennis players say "this is my favourite tournament"

But, I think it's obvious their systems further down are much better, like ours are in union... and of course a fresh voice can do wonders

Agree with Rich above, if Johnson wants to get to the next level, a change might do him good

I hope behind the scenes we are throwing Val's and some more at him.

Sure change our dynamic, but hey would take.

Not sure if old mate reads this, but Shaun, we treat our kiwis well, you actually swim home if your keen.

There is no end of great kiwis sharks, meet the Sorensons, probably have.

Played with Chad, this time, you be 6.

This is an open invitation, there will be critics, but seriously, cross the ditch. The disrespect you.

We have a good pack, and some fellas outside to help.

Work out something.

Please, pretty, please.

Many a Kiwi would vouch for us sharks and kiwis, Gallen tower 2 floor 3, just for your mum.

/no guarantee /no paper bag/ but will happen/

What a balls up. This bloke George has been getting praise up the yin yang but frankly this would be a colossal monumental failure. In no way shape or form should he have commented in the media in the way he did.

For those who seriously think this is a good move, I genuinely shiver at the thought of free agent halfbacks. Moses who is a locker room cancer, can’t defend, and woefully inept at times, Norman who is an off field cancer and can’t lock down a settled position in a poor team, Oldmate from the Tigers who I think is seriously overrated and nowhere near rep level, who the f else is there?

Diabolical grandstanding and this is going to hurt the club.

FWIW those giving Brian Smith forum head should remember his reputation from the Chooks and Knights. Good in the first year, and then things unravel spectacularly.

Totally agree, this is madness, Moses is a spoilt brat and an inferior player as is Norman, both prone to tantrums, both won't cross the Tasman for any less than Johnson is getting, any gains the club has made over the last year will be lost, premiership window blown. Believe me if anyone expects Moses or Norman to guide us to a premiership they are sadly mistaken, look at the Eels, if this happens I will be seriously pissed.

Brown is enormously overrated and a media darling who gets away with unbelievable mediocrity.

This is an absolute clusterf**k.

None of this had to be made public, espescially when the player is 12,000 miles away and representing our country.

Seems like management have got a hardon for playing hardball because it worked with Luke. The situations are polar opposites.

Yep management need to sit down with Shaun and nut something out quickly. TBH they’ve probably screwed the pooch and if they end up having to pay him a bit more to stay on then that’s down to them mishandling it.

Angry getting rather excited...

Moylan to fullback? Guess the question is whether Johnson can partner effectively with Townsend - Moylan and Johnson would be existing, but lack control.

Strong pack, strong leadership, good coach - makes sense

Really hate the public posturing by the club and now Johnson - both looking for PR points I guess... The club doing itself no favours by doing this and moving to re-sign Kearney at the same time, if one half decent season made you a great coach there'd be a lot of them around
