He knows it’s unlikely Logan is ever getting a team and it’s hurting real bad lol.
4 clubs in qlnd he can support just isn’t enough the greedy merkin.

We've got a Queensland Cup team at Heritage Park. Souths Logan Magpies.

You don't have a team because you were dumb enough to move to a rusted on fumbleball city. You've had 25 years to move to Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney to watch NRL. You defiantly remain in Perth thinking you can nag the NRL into funding a team that the city doesn't want.

How's that strategy worked out for you?

Perth cannot find enough money to field a team in the Queensland Cup. PNG managed to enter the Hunters in the Queensland Cup in 2015. They've earnt their place in the NRL.

Brisbane has earnt the right to have a third NRL team

Perth has not earnt the right to have one. No juniors. Zero value to the broadcasters. Tiny supporter base. Shithole stadium. No high performance training centre. A local media that is hostile to rugby league. If you didn't live in Perth you wouldn't even be speaking about it as a contender for an NRL licence.

He moaned about too many teams in Sydney for years and now wants the same for Brisbane.

Wasn't this the same group telling us how valuable a second Brisbane club would be?

Brisbane2 Ch9 value $0

Brisbane 3 Ch9 worth loads of money.

yeh makes total sense!
Haha so you’ve got nothing? Righto

Perth Red: "V'landys gave the TV DEAL to Ch9 and Foxtel cheap so they would write puff pieces about him."

Perth Red: "Broadcasters paid nothing for the Dolphins because there's no value in a second Brisbane team."

So which one is it?

Did V'landys sell the rights for less than their value?

Or did he sell them for maximum value?

Perth is a terrible expansion option.

  • Only 4k juniors playing in substandard competitions.
  • No value to the the broadcasters.
  • None of the game's marquee players will want to relocate to Perth because 16 of the clubs are on the east coast. If the Warriors struggle in this area then Perth has no chance.
  • Terrible stadium with poor corporate facilities. No indication of a significant upgrade.
  • WA Gov are only interested in tourists from eastern Australia.
  • Cannot compete head-to-head with AFLW.
  • ARLC won't want to jeopardise the Storm.
  • Suns, Giants, Force and Rebels have shown how risky it is to put "plastic" teams in hostile markets.
  • Every time expansion comes up Perth is rebuked.
  • ARLC and media analyst Colin Smith don't want it.

The only people pushing for Perth are delusional folk from WA and insecure buggers looking out for their own club. They know it will never be a threat to their club in the open player market.

I wouldn't count on PNG having a huge affect on the playing pool. The average height of a male in PNG is 5 foot 4 inches, they may love the game but what percentage of the population is suitable to develop?
You only need a top 30 for 1st grade, so around probably100 throughout the club in a population of over 8 million, im fairly sure you'll find 100 athletes, probably more which will filter into the player pool, just as we see the kiwi and p.i. players float around from every club now

Perth really is the most obvious choice for nrl expansion

city of 2.2million people
richest state in australia
Drew 42k crowd to nrl this season
Third strongest grassroots state in australia already producing nrl and nrlw players with strong potential for growth of participation and player production
beautiful affordable city to raise family in attracting players to relocate
Bid consortium of millionaire committed owners
Supportive cashed up state govt
Massive growth potential for tv audience
increase in value of sponsorship to nrl by having another big capital city in the comp
75 year history of rugby league and local clubs
perfect location for new tv time slot
suitable regular stadium and bigger top class one if and when needed
takes the fight to afl and puts another nail in unions coffin
removes the public perception rugby league is a two state game
politis and finally Vlandys recognise value of an Australian wide competition

you know it makes sense

Incorrect ACT would easily outweigh WA as the 3rd highest, and possibly a closing gap towards Victoria, but they both have 1st grade teams so i'll give you that, although if we are serious, no one cares about separation in states, especially when we have NZ, P.Is and soon to be PNG adding to that RL pool, as far as producing players WA products aren't exactly setting the league on fire in comparison, but its great to see them stem from far west, hopefully licence 20 will be surely theirs, when there's an overwhelming amount of players finding it hard to find a 1st grade spot, which won't be too far away, with most of the clubs now building local junior pathways to copy the model penrith and other similar development clubs are doing, there will be an excess and this will then flow over to storm and perth getting the benefit from it

Looks like @Perth Red and the WA Gov are telling lies.

They claim WA has the most players after Queensland and NSW.

A local NRL team would also provide an opportunity to further grow participation in community rugby league which - with 4,100 registered players - is the game's third biggest jurisdiction behind the traditional strongholds of NSW and Queensland.

The Melbourne Storm have refuted that claim.

2023 will go down as a milestone year for rugby league in Victoria with a record number of players joining local competitions around the state.

Over 4,500 registered footy players have already registered across men's, women's and junior competitions, breaking the previous 2019 record of 4,431 players.

With 30 clubs across Victoria and more than 250 teams in metropolitan competitions, playing in the Storm Premiership and Storm Junior League, the game has seen record-growth state-wide.

Players are also joined by over 1,000 registered volunteers and 99 referees maintaining the game’s smooth operation both on and off-field.

That WA article from at least 2 years ago (possibly 3) saying they have 4100 compared to Vic 4500 reported in late 2023.

That's probably the most heinous lie I've ever seen perpetrated in all of humanities recorded history.

Either that, or a more level headed approach would be to say that WA having about the same amount of registered players that Melbourne does is pretty amazing considering they haven't had a NRL team for the best part of 30 years.

I'm angling for the first take though.

Haha shoe in.... only if you took the on the bears,
you guys are seriously delusional, do you know how the clubs will vote or more importantly what they value, i can tell you its none of those things PR posted up as a list of "pros", they are unbelievably selfish, and they want things that money isnt going to buy or solve, why would it! ...they all get the same amount its all paid for, as if they want another beautiful beach city team, stealing away their talent, without any 1st grade talent in return... again i cant state this enough, you're selling to the wrong audience.
And listen I might sound disgenious most of the time, but i seriously want a perth team too, just not yet, not ahead of the areas that will boost the player pool to a reasonable amount that we can open a franchise like Perth or Adelaide and be able fill it with 1st grade talent straight away, that not going to happen in Perth now, it barely happened in redcliffe, and thats meant to be heartland, you'll be cannon fodder, its reckless to go there now
