Watched Whiplash the other night, great film.
J.K. Simmons was a right prick.
Terrific film.

I think for me it was how it got to that point that left me unsatisfied.
But I truly loved this film. It's a powerful bit of cinema.
Yeah, it did get a bit rushed at its conclusion.
"Enemy", the 2013 psychological thriller starting Jake Gyllenhall.
It was brilliant - a total mindf**k, but I absolutely loved it.
The fact that you are open to interpret what the film means is a bonus.
so Eelementary..
what do you believe is going on in the movie, including that strange ending???
I believe the spiders are a metaphor - he sees women as spiders.
His other persona is just him - we see both to facilitate the story to us as an audience, but he is a sick man who is struggling with his life.
Just a theory, but the film was terrific.
Yeah I've got some theories. One of them is that the spider creatures are real and that they are our rulers and it's like invasion of the body snatchers!
I thought Ex Machina was expertly handled all the way through.
Alex Garland did great job in his debut as director (seems like he learned a lot from Danny Boyle) and the writing was up to his usual standard.
I thought the ending was perfect.
That's actually another theory that people discuss openly.
I like it, but there are a few factors that make me think it's not the case - the biggest point being, why would the ending scene display fear? Gyllenhall's character was not afraid; rather, he was happy. And the other party in this scene was terrified.
Doesn't fit, imo - but it's an interesting theory.
that spider thing might have backed off because it didn't know how he would react.
i think it is very possible that he just sees women as spiders because he is afraid of commitment, or being restricted or trapped, or caught in their web as he might see it..
Certainly possible.
That's the theory I subscribe to - he feels creeped out and trapped by women, and sees them as spiders; he sees the giant spider shortly after seeing his mother, after all.
But then again, there are subtle spider-themed clues everywhere - the windscreen crack after the crash is a good example.
There is no right or wrong answer.
yeah and those wires above the road that criss-crossed, which looked a bit like a spider web
