Mary wasn't so chipper in today's press conference, probably feeling the reality of NRL coaching, but he still said that they need to win 3 from 4 for a shot ,he needs to check the table all the way down at 9th spot is already on 26 points so hard to see cutoff at 28 points, perhaps reality might reach him soon.

On Quinlan, hands up all those who were calling to have him in the First Grade side at various points in the last two years, and berating Price for not doing so.
Any volunteers?

Yes - a coaching master-stroke by Steve Price.

It's the things he didn't do (or say) which made him so great : )

You've missed the point BFD, or tried to obscure it. I suspect the latter because I think you're smart enough to get it.
Not a commentary on Price. A commentary on all those who think they have all the answers and get their kickers in a knot about it.

yeah ....you're right bottle.

I tried to obscure AND take a posthumous swipe at Steve Price ! And I knew what you were doin' !

Imagine if Adam Quinlan has 2 great games in a row ...and all is forgiven.

I love footy.

It's soap for men!

Beale should be the fullback. Dugan needs an off season to learn how to pass a ball. The best fullbacks know how to chime into an attacking play, but Dugan always seemed to stuff it up when he was playing fullback.
He is good at just receiving the ball from a standing start and making something for himself. This is what he did last year while playing fullback.

Mary actually reminds me more of how we played in the early days under brown, until Bennett came in and simplified the way we played. We need to fix up our defence, the attack will come naturally. Hope sheens can fix our defence, adopting a similar swarming style like he did with the tigers in 05'.

I was one that wanted quinlan in first grade. I'll admit he's definitely not a fullback as he never runs the line.
Kick returns are terrible and passing long passes near the try line have aged me and cost us tries and games. Today kicking on the second tackle which killed me. For me he hasn't proved anything and will be
Good as a bench utility player as that or back in the cutters

Agree with all of that except Beale was terrible at fullback before he got injured. IMO he is a better player now but it's just another opinion and if we follow the forum the team will change every week

Hopefully our idiotic board members were watching yesterday, and caught a glimpse of our bleak, depressing future under McGregor. Noone cares about seeing a local hero become head coach, they just want to see a winning team. Scratch Mary from the list asap and hire the best coach you can

If yesterday didn't confirm that McGregor should not be our coach next year, don't know what else would.
We had everything to play for the last 4 weeks and couldn't lift ,it's what sets aside the good coaches and the pretenders. We didn't need much motivation ,it was there with finals footy in sight.
How embarrassing with a side with Origin and internationals we surrender meekly while sides like Sharks,Knights and even Raiders showed spirit with nothing to play for.
Over to the board now to show us if they've even learn't anything by now.

The results of the next 4 games should not determine who is coach. An analysis and assessment of coaching ability should already have determined who will be coach.

Alas I fear a 4th season in the wilderness coming up....

I know its the Lurker but put it up as a FYI,

Dragons backroom issues

The St George Illawarra board is torn over the future of caretaker coach Paul McGregor.

The Dragons’ two losses in the past fortnight showed why there was a reluctance to make an early call on the coaching job.

There is again a push to bring Kangaroos coach Tim Sheens out of club retirement, at least in a coaching director’s role now that his dispute with the Tigers has been settled.

Trouble is, Saints are struggling financially and can’t afford Sheens and another first grade coach.
