Does the imminent demise of the Melb Rebels have any effect on our expansion?
Perhaps a red flag for putting teams where there isn’t enough support?
Or is it just a win and the NRL will assume their supporters will come to the Storm? (I would assume that a lot would “support” both and not a huge number of the Union only supporters would come to League in any case. )

I’ll be interested in how this plays out over the next few years.

It’s not a red flag. NRL is amongst the top for growth in Australia when it comes to new fans.

Super Rugby isn’t even on the list but baseball is lol.

Nor is the A-League. People have seriously got to stop comparing the NRL to Super Rugby and the A-League. The most interesting part of that survey is no EPL - that’s really surprising.

Didn’t notice that. Optus effect maybe?

Hmm that is a possibility. It does surprise me though considering the general popularity of soccer.

Actually to be fair on second look NBL and Test cricket (considering the constant media about the death of Test cricket) results would also be very pleasing for those sports. The growth of American sports, BBL, AFL and NRL were to be expected.

A year or two ago you got upset when I said cricket was in decline and the NBL is growing in popularity across Australia. Those graphs suggest there is truth to what I'm saying.

EPL was probably at its peak popularity in the 2000s. Seems to have been in a steady decline for a while, probably due to a lack of recognizable Aussies in the comp. Thought it might have got a boost with Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham but I guess not. People are probably sick of Man City dominating too, although before them it was just Chelsea and Man United...

Cause NZ has the Warriors
And they have had financial issues before
We don't need a 2nd NZ team at the moment
We the NRL are at war with awful AFL
We need to reinforce our juniors base
Be very Smart. Cause juniors are our future

Definitely helps when you had the likes of Cahill, kewell, Viduka and Neill playing in the comp.

I’m really glad you brought this up

Your comment if I recall correctly was that NBL was a chance of overtaking cricket in popularity. I stated that the chances were so remote that it is barely worth mentioning. The evidence that you used to underline your argument was that you went to a game and there were heaps of Asians at the game (Chinese if I recall correctly) therefore that meant that basketball is popular amongst Asians (Chinese) and that meant that it would in turn take over cricket (or a chance to do so)

I wasn’t upset btw - I was laughing at how stupid your remarks were (the ironic thing in all of this is how much you want to hang shit on other posters’ comments which you consider idiotic - not many have beaten this argument here)

Lastly as a coup de grace if you will, if you just looked at that same graph rather than going all half cocked you’ll note one rather important thing. It states pretty clearly that this graph is showing the ‘fastest growing’ sports. Do you notice how cricket is growing faster than the NBL because it has a higher percentage. You know this is evidence which kind of contradicts your whole argument there.

NZ juniors aren’t important?

The idea that you would have a side representing all these different areas doesn’t make sense.

Why would anybody from Christchurch follow a side that plays two games there and doesn’t have any connection. Better yet, why would you have a side play at multiple different venues if you could help it. Have you not noticed how the Tigers struggle with very little identity to speak of.

Your mate said I don't know what sort or support a Perth-based team will get from the WA Gov. The quote from the Sports Minister proved the club won't get any money from the tax payer.

No it doesn't. It says that they will provide support to a 3rd party bid. Nowhere does that suggest that the support can't be financial.

Warriors did used to include a ticket to an away game as part of their NSW memberships, problem was it was in the ‘away supporters’ section which are generally the worst seats in the stadium (especially Wollongong). Mixture of that and the warriors performance over those years meant I rarely actually used the ticket.
Believe they also sometimes do a Queensland membership that has either broncos or Titans and I guess now Dolphins ticket.
They still do, QLD and NSW memberships include a game ticket
