Schuster is in no position to be dictating what position the coach should pick him for. He'll be lucky to get a contract anywhere unless he shows a newly discovered work ethic to knuckle down, get fit and do as he's told. He could be a very good ball playing edge backrower if he works hard and gets the right attitude but already him saying he wants the 6 at a club that includes Cody Walker and Jack Wighton shows me his head still isn't screwed on right.

Maybe Wayne could get into his head to do some major repair work up there.
The no 6 talk would be the media trying to get more mileage out of the story I’d say he would be happy to just get another shot at the nrl

Oh my, I'd be all for Shuster IF we could make it happen, and IF he came at the right price. That story has Wayne Bennett masterclass written all over it. Shuster has all the potential in the world, all the talent in the world and I'm confident Wayne could get the best out of him.

That's the dynamic second rower we need.

Make it happen Souths!

I’d keep Ilias and try and move pistol Pete instead if it’s to get Schuster. (I’m not a huge fan of his, but the kid has talent) he is the type of project Bennett love to turn around.
ilias will kill it as a dummy half so keep him please
Ilias has never played dummy half in his life. The club hasn’t found anyone that wants him.

I have seen lots of negativity on Schuster on Souths forums and social media today and if Schuster does come and work out all those saying he’s shit and a total dud would then start sucking him off. I’ve watched him play in his good season with Manly there is a player there he has talent and class if he’s shown tough love he can show what he’s got and be a quality player. If anyone can get him firing it’s Wayne. He’s a ball playing edge too and has creativity and X factor moments in him at the right price get him in! And Wayne will tell him you’ll be playing edge suck it up ok and do what’s best for the side.

At the right price 350k or so I’m all for it a 2 year deal or deal with 2nd year option in clubs favour.

I still have heard we are looking to try move Ilias, Havili and Host on but there are no takers.

We end up with this next year it looks better….

8. Keaon
9. Mamouzelos
10. Arrow
11. Aitken
12. Schuster
13. Murray

14. Humphreys/Gray
15. Tatola
16. Moale
17. Duncan

Keppie
Shaq
Le Blanc
Lovett
Fletcher
Havili/Host if one stays.

Also on Humphreys I asked my mate who goes for Manly he’s watched lots of him he said he’s a better 7 than 9 and said he’s had some shocking games at 9 in NSW Cup for Manly so make of that what you will.

Dodd coming in on about 650k, Aitken signing as well as Campbell, Keaon, Tatola, Wighton all their contracts go up next year dollars wise. From what I’ve heard Campbell and Keaon salary both go up to 800k. Tatola goes up from about 500k to 650k too. Ilias money goes up to upwards of 500k next year Havili also back ended deal upwards of 400k. People forget Manly chipped in for Keppie this season too so we are paying full freight next year.

Also Tom took a pay cut from 750k to 400k for season 2024.

I’ve said before Humphrey is the fourth string hooker at manly so he’s not much chop as a hooker but people on this forum keep banging on about playing him hooker in first grade at south’s doesn’t fill you with confidence

Star fullback Latrell Mitchell will face a furious Rabbitohs board in a bid to save his multimillion dollar contract with the club.

NRL: The League has issued Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell with a breach notice, over a photo posted on social media.

Latrell Mitchell is locked in a fight to save his career at South Sydney as he prepares to front the club’s board and argue why his multimillion-dollar contract should not be terminated.

News Corp understands that key figures at the Rabbitohs have had their patience sorely tested by Mitchell, who received a breach notice this week after images were circulated of him in a room with white powder.

Mitchell is already facing a fine and suspension from the NRL over the incident, which took place while he was in Dubbo for a women’s football clinic.

He was interviewed by the NRL integrity unit, but he also faces a grilling from the club’s high-powered board, some of whom were believed to be at the end of their tether after a series of incidents during his time at the club.

This year alone, senior figures at the club were known to be disappointed with his expletive-ladened interview on Triple M and then his suspension for an elbow on Warriors star Shaun Johnson.

There was also frustration, albeit to a lesser extent, with Mitchell’s public feud with Sydney Roosters prop Spencer Leniu over his racial attack on Brisbane five-eighth Ezra Mam in Las Vegas.

While the club was supportive of Mitchell’s stance and has always backed his right to stand up for what he believes in, the issue dragged on for weeks and led to a public war of words with Anthony Mundine.

The point is that some at the club are understood to be questioning whether the drama is worth it given the jury is out on whether the Rabbitohs have received value for money for Mitchell.

He has only played 11 games this season and the most he has played in any season at the club is 17 matches as injury and suspension cost him time on the sidelines.

Injury has once again intervened this season and Mitchell is every chance to miss the start of next year as he stares down a ban from the NRL and potentially further sanctions from Souths.

Mitchell re-signed with Souths at the end of 2022 on a deal until the end of 2027, believed to be worth in excess of $1 million a season.

At his best, he is a matchwinner capable of dominating games on his own.

But for all the good he does for the game – and there is plenty of it, particularly in the Indigenous space – Mitchell has in recent times been a magnet for criticism.

South Sydney had stood by him and given him their support, but they have every right to ask now whether that is being reciprocated given the images that emerged earlier this week, which showed Mitchell leaning over white powder in a hotel room.

While there is no suggestion Mitchell was doing anything illegal, the images were not a good reflection on the game or Souths.

Hence, the sanctions that have been handed down by the NRL and the concerns in the upper echelons of Souths, where the club’s ownership model features heavy hitters including Russell Crowe, James Packer and Mick Cannon-Brookes.

Perhaps the most significant thing Mitchell has in his favour is the imminent arrival of seven-time premiership winner Wayne Bennett, who has been one of his greatest supporters and historically extracted the best from the Souths star.

Even Bennett may not be enough to save Mitchell if the club feels it is time to move in another direction.
